Flat battery on a diesel
JoelP - 11/7/04 at 04:58 PM

off on my jollies tommorow, but when i started the car today the battery warning light was on. Wont go off either, even with some revs, and the charger says its got a low battery to boot...

its a diesel, so am i right in thinking that the engine will run without the battery anyway? question is, will the eventual loss of the battery after 6 hours of driving cause any significant problems, aside from the obvious wipers and lights?

to make things worse, im setting off at 6am...

any help or advise welcome. FWIW, its an r reg primera tdi.

Thats the alternator warning light i think you'll find... so perhaps your alternator is on its way out ! Hence the flat battery

the pimp has a solenoid valve and requires juice to keep it energised,so you wont get far
