ok, my friend read something in the papers this weekend about the underground. Converation went like this:

Those figures quoted are probably the number of journeys, that's what PR figures do.
Somebody going to work does at least two journeys, so the figure is halved immediately. Then some do four journeys so the figure is reduced again.,
and so on!!
It's like 20 million watch Coronation street. It's on five times a week, the same people watching it five times reduces the viewing figure
to 4 in real terms.
Many years ago a 'platinum' album sold a million copies; now it's 30,000. But they still call them 'million' selling
artists.
A Billion WAS a million times a million, now it's a lowly 10 of em!!
That's today's nutsack about figures.

UK Billion is a million million.
US Billion is a thousand million.
Just most people now use American Billions.
Don't know anywhere with a billion being 10 million.
The nutsack about TV viewing figures and single sales is pretty close to correct though
