looking for a replacement tv for in the workshop

lcd, isnt that great as far as viewing angles go...... whats led like ????

The difference is the back light. One is tube back lighting and other is LED.
They are both still LCD techology.

Some very new screens are OLED but these are still at very silly prices.

the main difference is that the LED backlit tvs will be a bit slimmer, otherwise like already stated, just how the screen is backlit.
Not a lot different other than that

I think the poor viewing angle is more likely to be down to the brand of the TV

I never believed the more expensive brands were worth it and my Aldi special was a really good picture (probably because all the display TV's in Dixons etc always used to share the same poor Signal and picture!) until I got an LG.. WOW!
There worlds apart even normal TV looks like HD and the depth and colours are amazing, can't say I've ever seen it at a bad angle.

That's a LCD by the way.. I didn't need it to be mega slim so preferred to have better Specs in the slightly 'older-mm's thicker' design for the same money..
All the cheaper Tv's seem to have a poor Contrast ratio and although they may be the same Resoloution it obviously has a massive difference on the image quality.

do what I did and just buy a projector tv, then you have a 4 meter wide full HD picture so no issues with seeing it, plus it was cheaper than all the other tv types

lcd tv's are backlit uniformly across the whole panel, which means where it should be black, there is a light behind it, so their contrast ratios are pony. led tv's can alter where the backlight is coming from, helping to achieve better blacks. personally i wouldn't have either. i think plasmas still produce the best colour reproduction, plus they last longer than led tv's. panasonic plasmas are very good for the money

Yeah - he can paint the garage door white and shine it on the back of that! Unfortunately he'd have to have the lights off to see it - not very conducive to getting any work done!

As its only for the workshop, I'd just get a cheapish LCD. I paid just over £300 for an LG 32" for the bedroom and it's excellent.

wish i'd kep that LCD telly my mate gave me. screen was knackered, but would have done for a digital radio... ah well

ooh but i have got a freeview box upstairs i only use for a clock... and an old amp and speakers...
