I'm sitting here with a JD'coke in hand listening to David Bowies classic 1974 album Alladin Sane - and it got me thinking

I've owned this bit of vinyl since 1974.....................who else has treasured possessions that are 37 years old , that mean as much to them
as a 12" diameter bit of machine pressed plastic ? My Fury comes a distant 97th (I've got a lot of old records.....)

I have a house removal cardboard box full of boxed corgi toys from my youth in the loft somewhere but haven't seen them for years. lol

I have old car magazines.
There used to be a motorsport magazine in Scotland called Wheelbase and I bought it faithfully every month. I still have every copy.
This was the early 80s when I first started attending motor racing and speed events.
We had a local manufacturer who took on and beat the big manufacturers in the FF1600 class.
Fairytale stuff and I loved reading about it then and do now.
I now know the man behind it all and because of that, my collection of wheelbase mags are more special to me.
Regarding albums, I have one called 8:30 by Weather Report which I wore out and had to replace, from around 1978.
My record collection goes back 55 years at least with some "Elvis" through "Blood Sweat & Tears" to Music from Big Pink by The Band plus the normal late sixties and early seventies mainly British Pop. In 74 got married and had other priorities than Albums so skipped a decade or so until I started to build my CD collection.
Moody Blues, Knight in White Satin 7" single. It ain't getting thrown away or sold. Can't remember when I got it but I must have been about 17 ish so thats about 34 years ago. It could be older. Oh just googled it make that 39 years cos it was the re-release so that would be 1972 that I got it.and I would have been 13. Bless.

I've all Lynyrd Skynyrd's Vinyl, bought in my teens, OK 34 years ago.
Most prized posession is a 1965 Fender Stratocaster, which was a present to my Father from my Mother in 65, passed to me in 86, as its been in the
family since I was 5, I can't remember it not being there.
My deep purple machine head album, bought for me by my m8 when i was 16 (1976)
is probably my favorite,
and spookily my first ever CD was the same, bought my father, in th 80's

When my brother went in the army I was given his bed room, in it was a collection of motorcycle magazines, a danset record player and loads of
records.
That Is why I still have a love of Lonnie donagon, billy Fury, Buddy Holly,and old motor bikes.
Listening to Radio luxembourge under the sheets when I should have been asleep hours ago.

I think I still have my 1967 vinyl single somewhere. It is Pink Floyd's debut 'Arnold Layne' and I bought it with my first Saturday job

Scalextrix set with tin cars that's 40years old and a ton of hornby three rail stuff from an uncle that is 60+. All still working and gives that lovely ancient electrical and oil sparking smell that transports me back in time to my fifties childhood.
Being 23 most of my old stuff I never had brand new but I've got some decent records and alot of other old stuff I've picked up over the
years. I've currently got my parents records as they don't have a turn table (I'm slowly putting them on CD). I've bought a quite
a few old records aswell. Many of my friends (Well mostly my brothers friends, he has more that come over) are amazed by my record collection but
normally more by the newer ones as they didn't know people still put out LP's (By release Date my newest LP is less than a year old).
LP's are better, you get more stuff with it and the sleaves make the art work look better, then you've got picture disks. My favourite LP
thats actually mine is Unknown Pleasers by Joy Division which is a reissue that my mother tried to steal because it is identical to the original
(apart from the slight yellowing on the liner of the 79 original).
The best version of Hunky Dory is the '91 cassette, it's got some bonus tracks and sounds better than the LP and the CD, It's a great
album to drive to, Infact I drove home this morning to it.
All these memories of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Pink Floyd. Bob Dylan and the Band, Joni Mitchell, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, The Who etc etc remind me of
when we were young, those wonderful days at festivals, nights out in London, young love, life seemed easier then. I have now got the toy's,
loving wife, nice home and a bit of money but it's not the same. Pus I still miss my mum & dad. God I feel depressed now 
Average White Band, Santana, Kate Bush, Osibisa, Supertramp, Canned Heat etc. Mmmmmmm, nice!!!!
