That's not capitals.

James - 25/5/11 at 10:47 PM

Facebook is a very easy way to waste a lot of time... I should know!

But it's also a fantastic way of staying in touch with a lot of friends, (I have friends in coutries all over the world, I'm really not going to spend a bloody fortune phoning them up!) sharing photos, live chat, send files/messages, arrange events and invite people to them, comment of photos, get in touch with old friends from school or whatever. Obviously, if you also use it for chatting up people u fancy then that's up to you!

Cheers,
James

http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=187709634613231

its doing my nut in.

dlatch - 25/5/11 at 11:38 PM

i resisted for years
but been on there for 6 months and if you only add people that you give a poo about then it is good
have caught up with quite a few old friends and made some new ones.

it is rife with virus links though so you must be very careful clicking on stuff

Hmmm, well I've done most things on FB before and that one had me stumped for awhile- doesn't make a lot of sense!

Click on "The Tunnel" hyperlink beneath the title.

Click the 'like' button.

Then go back to your original link and you should be able to write a comment... I think!

Hope that helps,
James

Yeah, clicking on any external links or loads any of the 'apps' is a mugs game!

Just like you'd be mad to go loading any random apps you got via web browsing! Well, unless u like viruses and malware!

James

If you're careful it's not that hard to hide from people u dont want. They have to Friend Request you and you accept afterall! When my parents joined it (due to my sis' moving to NZ) I told them there was no way I'd accept them and they haven't even tried!
In your case, It's important to set your security settings so that only 'friends' can see your page. Dont allow 'anyone' or 'friends of friends'
Click the Account button at the top right of the screen and set everything to: Friends only. Then they wont be able to see stuff u dont want them to even if your mutual friends comment on them.

I have relatives who are my generation. The only problem we've ever had is when my girlfriend was hiding from her Mum she'd crashed her bike. She posted it up then remembered her Aunt was on there. Had to send a private not to Aunty asking her not to tell her Mum!

Cheers,
James

yep done that already
so, if i set it to friends only, and then write something on my mate steves page for example, they won't be able to see what i wrote? is that right?

Not sure on that one TBH.

Write on his wall, then get a mutual friend of yours and Steves (who's not yet your FB friend) to see if they can see it I spose.

Cheers!

I see things posted on a friend's status by people I don't know, which is interesting as one of my friends still talks to my ex (of a long time ago) and her comments show up

Not really a waste of time if you keep away from those inane games (play proper flash games on proper site like bored dot com etc) and just have people you know on there (unlike my myspace which has about 400 people on it because of an inane game)
