Looking for some CCTV advice if anyone is in the know?

I drive a mondeo ST, there is another ST's in my road. Luckily i was at work last night but this morning i found out that the vehicle was on bricks and the alloys nicked. Apparently there have been nearly 50 similar attacks on ST's this month in the West Mids area.

In light of this and the fact there has been a few garage attacks and i want to protect my car and bike, i want to invest in some CCTV at least as a deterrent.

At the moment i only really need a 4 camera system but when i move i'd like to expand this to more cameras. It needs to be decent quality both day and night, as i know, a lot of cheap stuff is useless to the police (evidentially). Has anyone got any advice, budget at the moment of approximately £750 and no labour costs as i would fit it myself. Any help appreciated.




Also, the ST has an alarm immobiliser factory fitted but it is pretty crap.. Ideally would like to fit a second alarm that basically is a loud siren triggered by a tilt / shock sensor and a proximity alarm if someone keeps standing by the side of the car it gives a warning before sounding the alarm. a Pager to call my mobile if it goes off would also be a bonus. Any advice would be great

no idea on the alarm, but I have a maplin system that works quite well, records 4 cameras for 7 days. I guess that two systems would give 8 cameras,..

£750 will get you a very good set up. just make sure that your recording device has around 2 weeks recording on it and it is expandable when you move and add more zones. also dont forget the cost of the shotgun cable you need to wire the cameras

Any recommendation on which cameras to go with? I dread paying for a few camera's that turn out are so poor night quality they record noting of evidential value.

I read somewhere that CCTV footage is inadmissable as evidence unless you have notice displayed advising that CCTV is in operation

For what it's worth the xpd621 is seriously out performing cameras costing five times the amount and has a host of features including peak invert making it suitable for number plates in the dark with the car headlights on!

Buy the best dvr you can afford at the expense of storage.
The cost to add an additional 1tb of storage using the correct drive is about £42 y3k accept the fact that hdd's are consumable items and are therefore user changeable.
