HEY FOLKS!
Have any of you seen the new advert for the Honda diesel.....Maybe I'm losing the plot but I think its awesome....!
I've seen it. I don't like it because my Transporter engine smokes like a bastard and the advert reminds me of the fact.
My Xantia is a bit like that too.....but hell I LIKE that ad...!
Certainly different...!
It's job, I suppose, is to grab your attention, so it looks like it works.......

........yep...someone has done their job well....!
but the tune's catchy, how long does it last, it seems to be on for ages. It's different to their spare parts one where the tyre rolls uphill and the wipers walk but I liked that one as well
I like their last few adverts, i guess their all about their new slogan, the power of dreams.
Better marketing than just showing off their latest models i think.
Best advert I have seen since, ......cog! The Honda Accord advert refered to by Peteff.
Might even have to buy a Honda one of these days!
Did any of you happen to see it in a break in Scrapheap Challenge?
Adam

.....spot on Adam!

TPG - 3/10/04 at 09:40 PMYep yep.A wibble..............
greggors84 - 3/10/04 at 09:43 PMSeen it quite a bit on telly, its on the honda.co.uk home page too.
When cog was on tv you could get the dvd on the website free. There is loads of stuff on the making of the ad, which is really intresting. Also has the original Sugar Hill Gang 'Rappers Delight@ video, which is the song off the ad.
colibriman - 3/10/04 at 09:47 PMTonight was the first I've seen it.....I don't watch much TV though..
Cog was pretty cool too....must have taken ages to setup
stephen_gusterson - 3/10/04 at 10:44 PMive seen it just the once - on sky i think.

andyps - 6/10/04 at 01:22 PMGot my DVD copy of the ad from Honda this morning. Not watched it yet to see what is on there but it says about the making of it similar to the one they sent out for cog.
Great service that from them - I sent an email on Sunday afternoon, acknowledged on Monday, DVD on the doormat on Wednesday.
I teach marketing (amongst other things) so always useful to have things like that to fill in during lessons.

Have you read the autobiography of murray walker? His 'real job' was a advertising exec. Untill the last 12 or so years of his commentating career, he had the week job, and commentating at the w/e.
anyways. One of the jobs he was given was to create a bird seed advert. Trill had 90% of the market and wanted to increase sales. This was thought a tad difficult.
So, his team set out thinking up ideas.
They came up with a slogan.
'A lonely budgie is a sad budgie'. By stimulating the market for budgies, they automatically sold more bird seed.

I have read the book and I have quoted that example to students a few times!
Watched the DVD Honda sent me tonight. It is quite interesting as a history of Hondas recent adverts - and it gives me a good chunk of a lesson next week![]()
