After 6 months of arguing with the unbelievably cretinous HMRC I have today received an income tax refund of £619.00
They have also relented and corrected my tax code too for the remainder of 2013/14
I'm pretty sure they've spent more than the refund in arguing the toss
Well done.
Wish me luck, I sent them back 3 years uncashed cheques today for overpayment and want them to send me 1 smaller one having deducted my underpayment
for 5 years.
I've tried 3 time to stop them so far, this is the last one.......
I wish you luck indeed!
I can't express my level of frustration with them on a public forum
DVLA, HMRC, im sure theres more FLA's
I got a cheque from HMRC this week for £114, not as good as 619 but always nice when they are giving you money rather than grabbing it!
I had a bill for £78 cheeky bastards
I got £550 cheque from them last year, to which I thought great. Cashed it, spent some of it, then 3 weeks later another letter saying they miscalculated and it should have only have been £130. I had enough to pay them back but moaned and claimed I had spent it all, they agreed to take it back over 12 months, so I agreed and effectively took it as a £420 interest free loan. Dicks.
I had a demand for £1.74 and a refund of £17 about a week apart. I've paid the 1.74 by cheque and cashed the refund. Life's too short to get involved in pointless discussions with morons.
I had a nearly £900 refund, which was £500 more than I expected. Then got the letter dying they are incompetent fools and that they had worked it out wrong. Amazing really that an estate agent in 5 minutes can get it correct to the penny but it takes hmrc 2 months to get it wrong and a further month to realise and correct it.

I got a big fat cheque for £67 this week. If there was at least a 0 on the end it may have finished my build!!
