Ok - so Tolulene or Laquer Thinner added in the proportion 8oz/Gallon. With no side effects? Is this right? Seems amazing... who's gonna try it first then

Several people in the MR2 owners club have tried it. The possible downsides are the xylene/tolunene attacking the rubber parts of the fuel system if they are not 100% resistant. It also evaporates very quickly, so the fuel wouldn't stay at the higher octane rating for long periods (though much the same as Optimax etc).

I have looked into this and whilst researching Toluene on the net found that the Australian tax people have been having a problem with Toluene diluted petrol being sold by fuel stations as a tax dodge.
It is apparently possible to use large amounts diluted with some petrol quite effectively, however i havent yet found a supplier who sells it in large quantitys
I dont think cellulose thinners contains a known quantity as most seem to be made from a large proportion of other solvents.
