I thought those wheels and tyres looked a bit skinny!
Looks like good fun though... see how he made it - CLICKY
That's about the only seven we can afford to get insured in

I only just saw this thread, and it was driven (and helped built) by a mate of mine. It's a story he's very fond of telling!
One of the UKCC had been at a red bull soapbox race before and assured the builders it was a straight downhill course. They decided to go with bike
wheels, since there were no corners.....
Of course they arrived at the day and there were corners!!
Brian (driver and locost blade owner) made the decision to go for it anyway and didn't use the brakes in an effort to retain momentum.... well
you can see the result, but Brian proudly points out that HE WAS QUICKEST UP TO THAT BEND!!!!!!
It was Brian who took me for a run in his locost blade when I was thinking of building a car - and about 30 seconds into that trip I KNEW I was
building a BEC! And his wheels didn't buckle this time, even with the extra weight in the car!
All the best
Ali
Oh yeah, a couple of pics of Brian's "real" car at Kirkistown (sprint course) this year!
