So what happened?

Doesn't look nice whatever it is

Volvorsport - 27/11/04 at 10:02 PM

hmm , long standing problem - crohns disease - they cut 10 inch of bowel out aswell about 8 small , 2 large , the bit basically that controls function , ie the valve forgot what they call it . it was so diseased it had stuck to me colon and was wearing a hole through , so wouldnt have been long !! . Also my heart rate was about 150BPM after the op for about 6 hrs while they chucked me full of anti biotics , managed to pull out of that , and im here to tell the story

Metal Hippy - 27/11/04 at 10:39 PM

That doesn't sound good.

Certainly glad you pulled through mate.

Was that at County?

ReMan - 27/11/04 at 10:40 PM

Best wishes, hope you`re feeling better now.
Colin

Volvorsport - 27/11/04 at 10:58 PM

it was at lincoln County - do you reside in this merry landscape

krlthms - 27/11/04 at 11:01 PM

Dave,
It is good to see that you are doing better. IBD was one of my research interests, and I know, 2nd hand at least, how unpleasent it can be. I can see from the complection of your tummy that you are well on the way to mending fully. If it is any consolation, it is very likely that the cause, mechanism, and effective therapy for IBD will be with us before long. It appears that most of the genes involved in the hereditary form have been identified.
Of course you know that stress seems to be closely associated with the break out of IBD. I have not been in this forum long, but I find it very relaxing, so you should hang out here more, purely for medicinal purposes!
Finally, you may want to look at this site:

Cheers and good luck.

i mate was about 28 when he had a good chunk removed. in fact, i know two blokes who've suffered this one. one just had to use a liquidiser a lot, rather than operations.

hope you get well soon anyway.

Volvorsport - 27/11/04 at 11:15 PM

Metal Hippy - 27/11/04 at 11:19 PM

I lived in Lincoln for 2 years with the legendary Emma until we managed to get away in August back to where I grew up...

Collingham, near Newark.

I deliver VW parts all over Lincoln every day though...

Volvorsport - 27/11/04 at 11:23 PM

Pray tell who is the legendary emma !

Metal Hippy - 27/11/04 at 11:26 PM

I work for Heron VW in Newark...

Volkskraft is one place I deliver to now and again... You in the woodworking place? The one where the homefires keep burning...

If you are then I've probably spoken to you before without realising.

And Emma is my legendary other half. She's often spoken about in the forums and indeed is a member herself 'Hippys Bird'

bob - 27/11/04 at 11:39 PM

Metal Hippy - 27/11/04 at 11:45 PM

I'll be honest, I can't say I've ever noticed Volvos hanging around...

I'll keep my eye out next time I'm out that way.

Watch out for a VW van and give me a shout...

gazza285 - 27/11/04 at 11:51 PM

Hippy, come deliver me a new head for my 2.4 T4 Transporter.

Metal Hippy - 27/11/04 at 11:53 PM

Age? Location?

I may be able to sort something...

gazza285 - 27/11/04 at 11:55 PM

Me? I'm 33.

Metal Hippy - 27/11/04 at 11:56 PM

Genius.

Age of vehicle, location of you and said vehicle....

Heads are exchange units, so you'd have to send the old one back to us or you'll be hit with a nice large surcharge on top of the cost of the head...

gazza285 - 28/11/04 at 12:00 AM

Year;
'93.

stephen_gusterson - 28/11/04 at 06:16 PM

a guy i work with's wife is 32, and she has had massive problems with her large intestine / bowel. its similar to chrone's. Its basically contageous, but you have to be really unlucky to get it. Around a year ago, it culminated by her having her whole large intestine removed. They kinda did a job on making a portion of the small intestine bigger, but it means your storage capacity is lower, and ya gotta crap 3 or so times a day.
