I was out tootling around the Suffolk back lanes this afternoon, approaching Raydon, when I saw what I thought was a radio-controlled plane doing
acrobatics... came round the corner to go past the USAF memorial in what was once a WW2 airfield when I saw a P-51 Mustang doing aerobatic practice
over the old runway.
I managed to watch about 5 minutes of rolls, stall-turns and fast fly-bys until he went past low and fast where I and a few others were parked next to
the memorial - what a lovely sound that Merlin engine and its supercharger makes!
Made my day...
Excellent, hope he was practicing for the Sunderland Airshow later this month.
Battle of Britain memorial flight was confirmed yesterday for all 3 days
