I could never get bittorrent to work behind this router.
I eventually gave up.

Emule is however, a fair sustitute.

the MPAA are really putting some pressure on the major sites now.

Things are really heating up now and law suits are flying around just like the USA. They have now secured the right to sue file trading sites and force them to hand over all user information (you can't easily hide from this) and the first few tradres are now facing court. My advice, you'll probably get away with the odd download but those who are downloading a lot of stuff are asking for trouble. expect to see a LOT of people sued for a LOT of money in the new year.

I think it's quite unlikely that they'll go after most users, perhaps the registered uploaders and heavy users on the sites.

I'd expect them to go for the people who run the sites, making them either shut down through legal threats, or the fear of legal action - removing the ability to do piracy to a good level.

The problem with bittorrent (from the MPAA's PoV) is that it's reliable, fast and forces uploading. not to mention that it's easy.

There are other ways to steal stuff, but none have been nearly as good as bittorrent as yet.


if you are a dirty pirate, i'd suggest looking towards usenet, which is fast, doesn't require uploading and seems to be reasonably RIAA/MPAA proof so far, I assume due to the fact most providers don't keep logs of what people have been doing.

on the down side, it does cost money for a decent provider.
