Changing a sink...
Northy - 30/1/05 at 01:43 PM

Todays task is changing the sink and tap. I'm happy with that part of it, but just wondered if I should turn anything off before I drain the water out of the hot water tank? I can't see a switch anywhere....

Cheers

Central heating. If you can't find the switch, pull the fuse.

Turn the cold supply off at the rising main.

The cold water supply yo the sink will be coming direct from there if it's the kitchen sink

Cheers guys, done the water bit now but the sink's dented Should have checked it before I started. Our lass now has to race to B&Q before they shut or I'll have to fit the old one back in!

Bit late now but whenever I fit new tings like sinks, I always plumb in one of the inline valves so if anything is wrong I can turn the water back on quite quickly without affecting the rest of the house.

You can use the ones with large red/blue taps or there is a more discrete version which you need a flat-bladed screwdriver to operate.

Did you get the radiator shifted?

I've got a full bathroom to do in a couple of weeks and I'm preparing myself with How-To's.

I've found Homebase useful.
