Beeping Focus
locoboy - 18/2/05 at 10:54 AM

I have a 1.6 LX 02 plate Focus and a couple of weeks ago i jumped in and started it up and as i turned the key i heard a single beep from within the cabin.

It puzzled me initially but then i forgot about it. A few days later it did it again. I had pulled up at the shop, turned the lights off and dashed out, jumped back in turned key and beep off it went again - when in process of turning the lights on i thought that maybe i had turned the dial too far to the left when switching off and had inadvertantly turned on the parking lights and the beep was a warning to tell me i had started the car with the parking light on.

But last night after work i got in and started it up and beep it bloody did it again!

Its a kind of soft tone warning beep like the kind you get on some cars when the fuel light comes on.

Any ideas what it might be? its doing my nut in!

You must have changed your seating position and the ass groove is adjusting itself

Does it have an ouside temp gauge in it. Ours does and it beeps (longish soft beep) when the temp drops to below 4 deg C

PMSL @ the ass grooves!

No outside temp guage, unless its JUST the beep because there is no lcd display for it.

Possibly...take a look in the user manual

Cant think of any other reason a focus would beep at you...

If it's got rear parking sensors sometimes these pick up on something. Maybe it is a faulty switch or sensor...

That all depends on the beep I suppose.

Is it a "come hither" sort of beep or a "piss off you stupid git" beep?

Oh! I have a totally unrelated focus question.

Did a brake service on the mother-in-law's, newish, Focus a few months back. Rear pads showed uneven wear (one pad full thickness, other wafer thin). Ordered a new pair of calipers and replacement pads and they actully come that way out of the box brand new (one pad thicker than the other that is). Anyone know of a sound engineering reason for this? Or know if this is universal or peculiar to Canadian Focii?

Very weird...

I dont know why they do it, but the drum shoes on the back of a fiesta are the same, one thick, one thin.

AFAIK fords dont beep when they need a service... unless the new ones do...

Agree with the outside temp sensor mine does the same when temp below 4 C
