Sold a guy in newcastle an item and booked parcel to go to pick it up.The F***p fair paid a visit and they dropped the pickup and it was a day later than other wise.

So I have kept the guy informed and noted that we have had some of the worst traffic stopping weather in ten years.......Get a shirty email threating me with neg feed back ect. Now its less than a week from when he bought the item........mmmmmm gave him a nice email back written in very polite english.

I've just bought something on ebay which requires a special DD setting up. The Seller is being very reasonable 2 weeks later as ebay need to clear everything before it goes.

Tell the prick that YOU will leave him negative feed back for being so unreasonable and report his behavior to ebay I bet he has a low feed back score and is just trying it on . I have done lots of Ebaying and most people are very reasonable as long as you keep them updated, don't loose heart

Ive got 100% feed back rating of nearly 100 and all of my transactions in this country and abroad have been spot on ,but there is always 1 mupet.. This week I bid on an auction ,for a focus zetec engine .The seller sent an email to tell me not to bid but I could have it for £250 cash I got the money together rang the guy /took time of work the lot when the guy didnt show as aranged I checked my email to find that he had changed his mind
He has now relisted under a new user name So all be aware

Only ever bought on ebay but so far no problems.Just bought a brand new Bell type A helmet for my sons karting for £32+pp would have cost about £180 from a shop.From sending cheque to getting helmet only 8 days.

Dont get me wrong on this, I love Ebay and have a large respect for the system. As you say keep everybody informed and you should be ok. But having done that the turkey is still making noises. You cant please everybody all of the time. With about 100 deals done we have had 2 muppets so 98 % of the population cant be wrong. Think HELLFIRE got a bad one but you move on. When you get a £160 bowling ball for £39 and still moan...........

A well back to listings for the week.....then the postings.......

Must say that the Ebayers from lcb are the best to deal with.

the ebay system is flawed - if everyone did last minute bidding, items would all sell a lot cheaper. Each bid should extend the auction by 10 mins.

That sounds a far better idea, it would then be more like real auctions. Only downer is that if the item had a very low start bid and all the biding was last muinet the auction could go on for hours.


The other way would be to do like real auctions, have vewing for about 7 days, then at a pre determined time run the auction on the 10 minute system like Joel sugested.
And ofcourse if you can't make the auction you can place a priour bid (a bit like the current max bid).

but your sugestion is flawed and would be unworkable an auction could go on for ever .remember that the system is set up to get thebest price for sellers otherwise it would have no listings at all . Stop bitching and learn how to make the most of the way it works . I personally use the likes of "bid tamer" if I want to snipe an auction ,works sometimes .
I may ocasionally pay what some would consider above the odds but the only thing a buyer should consider when making a bid is weither the item in question is worth what you bid. I you get the item at a good price that is a bonus.
Today I bought a nice pair of racing seats for my car I payed $215 aud and I am well pleased with the purchace they will do the job annd meet the ADR(australian design rules ) so be thankfull that we have Ebay as it is a very good measure of the real value of the things we want .

I've had 4 muppets out of 42 transactions !

Everytime they have been total wasters who are totally impatient.
That's the main problem with Ebay now. Impatience!

It's not instant buying and a few are upset by this, why then bid ?

Two have used 'Buy it Now' within minutes of the listing, then changed their mind within hours. This is the most dis-heartening as you cannot do anything for 7 days.

I've had mails timed within minutes of an item ending wanting to collect right away or organise collection ASAP!
It may seem like I spend all my time on the net BUT I do have a life and don't always check the item till next day!

The next item listed will carry draconian terms to try to weed them out BUT it's a fact now that some are so careless with their bids as there really is no comeback!

do you mean me as the seller or buyer? i do make the best of it, personally i do last minute bids all the time. but im saying, from a sellers point of view, it sucks.

so the current system is vastly in the favour of buyers - but obviously the system is set up for sellers anyway isnt it...

I buy some stuff but I set my bid and that's it. If I lose it that's it. I do buy it nows as well and I've thought about selling some stuff but never got round to it. Some of the stuff sells cheap but they make a bit on postage to cover it. I read the feedback and some people complain they are being ripped off on postage but if you buy the item you can see the terms and agree to them before you bid. Only thing I ever lost out on was a processor that I bought untested and it didn't work but it was only £3 all in and I'll not do it again (till next time).

Good auctions don't last forever. Usuall between 3 and 30 seconds, depending on the level of customers.

An auctioner knows what its worth, and can sell items in seconds.
Just watch holesale auctions like fish.

Havind done quite a few industry base auctions, I can watch programs like bargin hunt etc. and get board, start yawning after about 2 bids.

I Can't see how ebay is et up with a bias towards buyers . The feedback system works both ways. . Comunicate well describe the item honestly or ask questions (as a Buyer) to make sure it is what you want . Having bought and sold I have had disputes both ways and resolved them amicably . Personally I do not like the practice of inflating the shipping costs(a bit underhanded in my oppinion) and will always check on the sellers shipping terms before bidding .

In real estate they say the three important things things are Location Location Location , on EBAY it is COMUNICATE CONUNICATE COMUNICATE .

To me its all VERY simple.

I decide what the Absolute MAX I am prepared to pay. Then I bid that amount, as late as I can in the auction.

Mostly I get it, but not always.

This way I dont get up in a bid, outbid, bid, and outbid war. This is where people pay way over the top of what they are prepared to pay.

I just watched a gearbox plate go for £22:30. They only cost £13:50 NEW!!.

That to me was someone who has not done their homework on the real cost, and was caught up in the tit for tat bidding. It wasnt worth me bidding, My max was the retail price of £13:50. Its a crazy

ah ha!!! but then there is the button you click to end the auction to the highest bidder! (not often used i know, but you can choose to sell before the end to the best offer)

anyway, i'm not saying its entirely biased towards buyers, just that if everyone did a last minute bid, the average item price would fall (due to less bids - obviously if everyone types their maximum bid it makes no difference). Feedback is obviously what makes it all work.

i have bought and sold over 200 items and have never ever had a problem.

as far as patience is concerned, I had two really patient buyers over xmas. I had sold a couple old radios for my father at about 15 quid each, and at the end of the auction i was made redundant. Kinda puts you off things, and i really couldnt be bothered getting packaging (which would normal come from the packaging skip at work). So, i told the buyers of my sitaution, and both said sorry about your news and no rush.

I shipped them both about 6 weeks later and at no point did either hassle or ask me for an update. there are some nice patient people out there.
