On my way home from work at no more than the legal maximum officer, I saw a projectile heading towards the car, looked jaggy, bigger than a wheel trim and and was travelling at warp nine, or was that me ;-), thankfully it hit the road, unfortunately there was no room to swerve and I hit it with the offside front tire.

Well the tyre went down like a cheap tart leaving me at dual carridge way speed on three wheels and a prayer, anyway maybee all the recent hours on GTR, GPL and GT4 saved me cause I made it onto a slip road to change the wheel, only when I got home did I inspect the damage to the tyre.










Thankfully it's just a matter of a new tyre and clean underpants, doesn't bear thinking about what could have happened to a bike, suggest helmets for all screenless car occupants, stones are the least of your worries...

Years ago I had an old shape Reno 5 and I was folowing a skip lorry full of scrap, before they thought of netting over the top, and a piece of 2x2 angle iron fell out of it. I ran straight over the top of it and my left rear wheel locked. It had gone diagonally through the tyre and jammed on the arch and boot floor. The worst nearly was a brick stuck between the rear tyres on a site lorry. I was following on my motorbike and it came out and flew over my head and the car behind me. If I'd been closer it would have got me full in the face. After that I always dropped back another 20'.

A least the wheels intack (amoungst other things). On heavily loaded trailers I've know a tyre blow out, and had to dirve it a sort distance to get it out of the way. The result was that a 9" grinder was needed to remove the wheel from around the brake drum.

I caught a hub cap that came flying over the cement median from the oncoming traffic--I figure I was doing around 120-130 kph and the oncoming part was probably doing similar.- It took out the grill,hood,winshield and front of the roof. If I had been just a few feet farther down the road it would have been right through the windshield and me. I take the car back to work and they give me hell for wrecking a company car.

a friend of mine was driving home fromthe beach when he heard a very loud bang

when he got out there was a piece of steel about 400 long 25 wide and about 4 or 5 mm thick stuck in the undersdide of the rear wheel arch. there was a bend on the end of the steel which when he'd driven over it had flicked it up into the wheel arch. apparantly it had penetated about 9 or 10 inches

I was following the car in front rather closely (was winding up for an overtake and ready to come off the apex of the corner)

when i heard something then split second later i hit something that had come up off the road.

The dopey bint in front had run clean over one of the small (3 feet high) triangular men at work A frame signs that had been lying down on the road.

Thats what i heard then i saw it flip upright and bang i hit it full on, i was doing about 80.

It launched itself accross the other side of the road - good job no cars were coming the other way, over the pavement, good job noone was on the pavement and straight over the hedge into the field, good job there were no livestock or a couple getting jiggy with it in the field

I followed this woman until i got the the petrol station i knew was only about 3 mines down the road where i pulled in and inspected the damage. I expected her to pull in too but she just drove on oblivious as to what A) she had run over and what potential damage it could have done to her car and B) the fact that i had just fired a metal frame weighing about 8-10Kg at 80Mph across the other carriageway and into a field!

It's amazing how big a Deer appears when you're tooling along at 40 mph and the d&*&98ed thing leaps into the road in front of you.

Had it been earlier in the day, and had my truck been at home, I would have gone back and claimed it for the meat. (Oddly the taking of "Roadkill" is legal in the state of Tennessee) I'm afraid the body was too broken up to be of much use though.

I have little hesitation to take down a deer with a rifle while hunting, just seems kinda sad to hit one with a car.

The car was considered a total loss by the insurance. So I took the money, and did a salvage-buy-back. A lien against the car was paid and I got $1200 US to boot. The chassis is fine, so a hood and lights should fix'er right up. (Due to a run in the paint from a previous owners Sh!te repair, I had planned to paint the little car anyway.)

Hit a crow once on my bike doing about 120 on a windy river road at lunch one day. Smashed my hand, the headlight, side light, bent the handle bar and dirtied my shorts big time. Crows around here stand about 14" high.Was luchy as hell it didn't fly into my head as I had the visor up. I didn't kill it on at first, but I sure kicked the hell out of it after I finally stopped in the gravel. Road kill is open season after the person who hit it passes on the meal. We usually give a courtesy call to the police and MNR to let them know what your up to. Even a torn up deer has allot of very expensive meat on it. Yes i did pass on the crow, hate then damn things, was the last time I rode a bike. Hand healed after a few months but it still hurts when its cold or i see one of them damn crows...Hm i wonder if KFC cruises the back roads for meat
