Jumpy Guy - 17/3/05 at 08:44 AM

with all this GT4 talk, Im jealous!

whats the best driving game on x box?
Forza?

And anyone bought a wheel?

stevebubs - 17/3/05 at 09:37 AM

I enjoyed Sega GT, but Project Gotham 2 is also supposed to be superb.

toca race driver 2

ned - 17/3/05 at 09:50 AM

i'm a tight arse and won't pay silly prices for games when they come out, so i only have project gotham racing 1, sega gt and toca race driver 1.

I find that i don't have enough time to play on the damn thing anyway, especially to progress to the better cars/tracks.

guess i should hunt out the cheat codes really.

out of the above i think gotham racing is most fun whilst toca is best driving sim..

Ned.

liam.mccaffrey - 17/3/05 at 09:51 AM

i've got toca 2 and it is a racing sim very unforgiving, very realistic. GT4 is a more fun game

ceebmoj - 17/3/05 at 11:00 AM

how about GRT that was suposed to come out for the xbox. very good on pc as simaler level of dificulty to grandprix legends

I just sigh at the sight of the current GT offerings, and go back to playing the origional.

Or just dig out a non racing classic like worms.

Is GTR coming out on X box? cant find any reference to it on any of the adverts...

does someone who posts work for the company that programmed GTR??

Dillinger1977 - 17/3/05 at 02:46 PM

Toca 2 online...woooohooo!!! but considering getting the ps2 just for GT4

MikeRJ - 17/3/05 at 03:57 PM

Rallisport Challenge is just about the only game I play on my Xbox. It's one of the best games I have ever played, especialy the ice racing. Also looks awesome through my projector, though it does tend to cause motion sickness after a while.

Project Gotham Racing 2
and
TOCA Race Driver 2
are the best driving games in the GT4 style.
Burnout 3 is also good fun and better than Need For Speed Underground 2.

I'm a bit of an Xbox addict and probably have most of the driving games!

All of the above mentioned games are also very good online, but NFSU2 menu system lets it down.
If you like playing against/with other people then you can't beat Xbox Live.

yeah, bit of an xbox addict meself.....

Project Gotham 2 is very good, driving the caterham is an interesting experience (to say the least!).

Also have moto gp 2 (not car but still) that is excellent, especially when you can set the difficulty level (how forgiving it is when you go off the track). Must say though moto gp 2 and project gotham racing 2 are both good on xbox live but hardly anyone goes on anymore

jonno - 17/3/05 at 07:16 PM

Rallisport Challenge is prob best xbox racing game out imo, waiting for forza. toca race drivers pretty good also does every one use live, or do anyone use kai (like me) ??

Tim 45 - 17/3/05 at 08:46 PM

i use live, maybe if enough people were interested, we could have a night of racing, or something like that. Because now you can get two month trials of xbox live with games such as project gotham racing 2, or pick them up on ebay for 99p.

What do you think about a race night or something similar?

jonno - 17/3/05 at 11:13 PM

just finished playing a bit of ghost recon on kai, its play's well. I would be up for a game pretty much anything, but not using live

After reading this thread, I stopped at the store to see what Gotham 2 was selling for. I was suprised to find it had dropped to $20, from it's original price of $50. I love the changes they made to the game - it's much more fun and challenging to play now. I also like the fact that you can test drive most of the cars now without resorting to a cheat code. The look and sound is also improved. A few minimal problems with the realism though: The Ford SVT Lightning doesn't seem quick enough. A good friend of mine has one and it'll pin you to the seat VERY quickly. The Seven is left hand drive (was it supposed to be??). Last, the old American muscle cars have nowhere near enough body roll compared to the real cars. Other than that, I'm re-discovering the joy of ignoring the family, work, and other duties around the home so I can play the game.

Other racing games in my collection:
Project Gotham Racing 1: Great game considering it's 4 years old or so.
NASCAR Heat 2002 and NASCAR Thunder 2002: Both enjoyable, but I like EA Sport's Thunder more. Heat has more options and is more in-depth, but I want to race, not build a race car.
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2: pure crap, waste of money.
Wreckless, the Yakuza Missions: Not a real deep game, but the graphics were incredible for it's time. Lots of realistic action, suspension, etc, although the game itself is somewhat lacking.
