mookaloid - 26/3/05 at 07:54 PM

I thought it was excellent

JoelP - 26/3/05 at 07:57 PM

cracking

Northy - 26/3/05 at 07:58 PM

Seriously?

keith2lp - 26/3/05 at 08:08 PM

Lived up to the hype. impressed

Peteff - 26/3/05 at 08:12 PM

I thought it was better than I expected it to be. Suitably impressed here.

phelpsa - 26/3/05 at 08:13 PM

I saw one episode being filmed in Cardiff bay

Coose - 26/3/05 at 08:15 PM

Utter crap, utterly entertaining (just like the original.....)!

splitrivet - 26/3/05 at 08:16 PM

Bollox missed it had to take the dragon out for her annual airing and forgot to set the vid. Is it being repeated on BBC 4 3/4 or anywhere.
Cheers,
Bob

theconrodkid - 26/3/05 at 08:44 PM

not impressed, chavs in outer space and a YELLOW beetle, whatever next?

bigandy - 26/3/05 at 08:56 PM

I thought it wasn't too bad. Entertaining rubbish.

Billie Piper? Would you?

David Jenkins - 26/3/05 at 09:11 PM

What really pigged me off was setting the video, settling down to watch it later, only to find that the recording stopped about 35 minutes through the prog!

Are they repeating it at any time through the week?

David

BTW: I thought it was very entertaining, but I reckon it will have REALLY given the littleun's the creeps!

rusty nuts - 26/3/05 at 09:17 PM

Very disappointed after all the hype, watched farscape later on BBC 3 thought that was much better

splitrivet - 26/3/05 at 09:31 PM

Just found out its on tomorrow night 7.00 BBC3 David.
Cheers,
Bob

marcyboy - 26/3/05 at 09:37 PM

5 out of 10!!!!
well i think it was a bit lame for a first episode....surely to reel in the viewers you need better bait... the preview of the next episode looks better with some latex baddies and not just mannequiins and a wheelie bin

btw.. who do you think was the bext dr ?

i think it's got to be Tom Baker

[Edited on 26/3/05 by marcyboy]

JoelP - 26/3/05 at 09:57 PM

baker all day

Mark Allanson - 26/3/05 at 10:25 PM

With a budget of £1 19s 6d per episode, pretty good

spunky - 26/3/05 at 11:35 PM

I missed it, I was in the pub.

Best Dr... Jon Pertwee for me but then I am very very old

Liam - 27/3/05 at 02:13 AM

Excellent!!!

Perfect Dr Who! Just the right balance of cheesyness, cheap effects (the wheelie bin was fantastic) and tongue-in-cheekness, whilst still being genuinely entertaining!

Being fairly young I only remember Sylvester McCoy (who I was surprised to find wasn't the last Doctor - somehow I missed the eighth).

Was wondering - was the original stuff supposed to be fairly serious sci-fi drama, but just seemed cheesy and tongue-in-cheek (at least to viewers now) cos of the low budgets and available technology/techniques, or did it never take itself seriously? If you know what I mean. Like is it the same as always, or has modern Doctor Who become almost a self-parody?

Er, discuss... Billie's nice anyway.

Liam

well the 3 doctors i grew up with were
jon pertwee...tom baker..and peter davison, 3 good doctors...but tom baker outshone them for eccentricity humour and good voice,
as for billy piper ...i always follow this formula (female+ pulse over 16 under 65)
not that i'm fussy or nout

britishtrident - 27/3/05 at 08:59 AM

Mega good inspite of the fact I wanted Tony Head to play the new Doctor.

lukefab - 27/3/05 at 09:08 AM

I enjoyed Chris Eccleston's Doctor Who last night and think it will get better as it goes on.

My all time favourites would be :

No 1 William Hartnell.

No 2 Jon Pertwee.

And Sylvester Mc Coy in 3rd place

(Yes, I am an old Bug**r )

marcyboy - 27/3/05 at 09:22 AM

did you watch the william hartnell dr who the first time round.... i

lukefab - 27/3/05 at 09:30 AM

Yes, I said I was old.
Old enough to remember the 1st Dr Who
still young enough to enjoy my Locost !!

Peteff - 27/3/05 at 10:12 AM

I saw the original as well. I'd have put McCoy second and Pertwee third. The original Hartnell was a bit serious but he set the standard for the others to follow

David

stephen_gusterson - 27/3/05 at 07:43 PM

i can remember as a very young boy, the eposode with hartnell turning into another dr who.

as for the rest of it, i was never in to dr who.

i watched it this saturday, and at the end found myself wondering if it was borderline tosh - but Ive gon for really good. It was very funny in places - particularly the bin and plastic bf (shes not a very observant girl is she) , nicely cheesy, and the dr's flippent homour was good - and i thought that billie played her part very well.

deffo will watch again.

marcyboy - 27/3/05 at 09:11 PM

just out of curiosity...how many of you are trekkies ?

jollygreengiant - 27/3/05 at 09:20 PM

three here.

Left here, right here and final front here.

Enjoy.

britishtrident - 27/3/05 at 10:27 PM

How many trekies calls for a new survey.

splitrivet - 27/3/05 at 11:09 PM

I gotta say I thought it was darn good, bit of cheese, bit of humour got the makings of a pretty good show.
About a million percent better than my neighbours doing her house up from reality in outer mongolia swap shite we've been fed with for yonks
Cheers,
Bob

Hellfire - 27/3/05 at 11:40 PM

I thought the best bit on Dr Who was:

Billy: "How come you've got a Northern accent?"
Dr: "Most planets have a North!"

LMFAO

britishtrident - 28/3/05 at 09:50 AM

I never thought a wheelie bin could be menacing :-)

Jasper - 28/3/05 at 09:57 AM

Excellent - thoroughly enjoyed it, set the Sky+ to record the lot!!

spunky - 28/3/05 at 10:07 AM

Looks like they have got the formula right. My GF didnt like the animated shop dummies. Gave her the creeps Suggested she gets behind the sofa next time
