New Car
Ben_Copeland - 23/4/05 at 05:10 PM

Got my new car today!

Nissan Navara Pickup, 133bhp and an obscene amount of torque. 2.5TDi

Bought it for work, but it'll be brilliant at towing cars around on my trailer.

Big Grins all the way home

cool....good choice..

Chris_R - 23/4/05 at 10:47 PM

Mmmmmmmmm, shiney. Shame to get it mucky with an old engine in the back.

Ben_Copeland - 24/4/05 at 07:07 AM

Also has 2wd, 4wd or low ratio 4wd for when the M25 has a mud slide covering it

Air conditioning, 4 electric windows, electric mirrors... all standard

Is this the one that invades Scrapheap Challenge every 1/4h???

Peteff - 24/4/05 at 09:20 AM

Daughter's bloke has the Ford Thunder which looks very similar and his has the covered load area, very handy and really impresses the kids.

Ben_Copeland - 24/4/05 at 02:51 PM

Ah yes... Ford Thunder, tis similar. Had a test drive. Made me want the nissan even more. Nissan has buckets more power

Yes, it's the one that invades scrapheap challenge

I've heard these things are very thirsty even to the extent of folk getting rid of them soon after buying. It seems they can't get their heads round the weight and aerodynamics problem and can only see an economical diesel engine
If you want a good tow car then i would recommend the new transit. We have 2 one of them a 125 280. Both capable of towing a brian james trailer with the 760kg hotrod on it and 3 adults and 3 kids ( 2rows of seats and belts and side windows) all the race fuel and even sometimes a spare engine. It goes 300miles on just over 3/4 tank of fuel. Others with there jeeps etc need to refuel on the way home usually.

Sorry went off on a tangent there.

Even with a mud slide on it, theres only one esential item a car needs for the M25 and thats a handbrake. How long before they put pay and displays along the hard sholder?

Ben_Copeland - 24/4/05 at 07:37 PM

it's not too bad on MPG... it's around 31 mpg if you dont go mad. Even though it seems fairly capable of loosening the rear wheels off the lights

If they put pay and display on m25 i bet it would be £3 per hour and they'd still put road tax up

john_p_b - 25/4/05 at 02:38 PM

love the pick up! looked at getting either one of these or the mitsi warrior before xmas but then i went and had a bit of a outburst of insanity and bought a totally impractical cosworth which now just sits there being polished cos i'm too scared to drive it! might find it's self being replaced with one of these by the end of the year!

clbarclay - 25/4/05 at 03:56 PM

Cosworth's are not too impractical, i've known farmers use them as day to day run abouts.

when you work in the war zone that is leicester it's not practical to park and running 330bhp and only giving me 15-18mpg it's not great on the wallet for a 25 mile roundtrip for work my heart deffinately got me to buy it rather than my head but i still love it when i do get to drive it

locoboy - 26/4/05 at 08:16 AM

My new boss has one of those pickups, very nice!

Ben_Copeland - 26/4/05 at 08:20 AM

Dont get the mitsi warrior, heard some bad things about them. Badly made, etc... plus the nissan has more power and better MPG

Cosworth.... sierra??? DONOR

Lucky I looked at the Nissan USA site and I could not found any turbo diesel engines.

[sarcasm]Why have a deisel when you can have a petrol car that uses 3 times as much fuel?[/sarcasm]

Sorry, sounds about right for the US market though..
