JVC Camcorder ?

I have one of these. I was running it off mains power and the power failed while it was running. Now it's stuck.

Does anyone have a fix for getting it to unstick.
I'm hoping there's a button press combination or a hole you poke a screwdriver in.

P.S. it's a JVC GR-DVL 30

Whats stuck? And where?

If I power it up in play mode, I get a blue screen and a flashing display with no tape status. Just like when there is no tape in it. There is no response from the tape transport
If I power it up in record mode, it will show picture etc. on the display, but no response from the tape transport.
I reckon if I could get the tape out it would be reset - I could be wrong of course.

My mates old JVC one used to do that sometimes...but his was an old one (now officially dead) and we just prised open the tape mechanism. (not recommended!) But if you get the tape out, they do reset themselves.

Try taking out the back up battery (behind the batt pack usually) and see if that will clear the memory. Otherwise if its fairly new (i think that models quite new) then take it into a camera shop (or where you bought it) and they will help...

I have been looking at it again and eyeing up the backup battery compartment. I reckon I will go for that approach. Failing that it will be a dismantle job and get the tape out that way.
The camera is about 5 years old - I won't be spending any money on getting it fixed.
