Jon Ison - 27/4/05 at 05:16 PM

I'm not asking for a friend BTW, mine is clean but..........

Is it possible too tot up 12 penalty points and get away without a ban ? I was "bragged" too today by someone who tells me they have 12 points but not banned, maybe it is the case ? I thought not.

He could have 12 points, but if some of them are more than 4 years old then they wont actually count anymore. As for offences such as speeding points can be removed after 4 years (a lot longer for serious offences such as drink driving and death by dangerous driving [12 yrs i think for those]) if you can be bothered to send your liscence back...

Get to magic 12 and it's goodnight vienna to the license, that's if they are current by the way.
Don't know how but i too have a sqeaky clean license.....

What about that Lord in the recent "Would you have got away with this post". He had 12 points and a license.

Mind you he probably knew the Judge.

Yes you can "tot" up to 12 points (or more) but you have to plead "exceptional hardship" in person to the Magistrates' and can only do this once in any lifetime.
I have seen many pleas for "exceptional hardship" refused by the Magistrates - it's all good fun you know.

Special Code TT99

To signify a disqualification under totting-up procedure. If the total of penalty points reaches 12 or more within 3 years, the driver is liable to be disqualified..........

dam points win no prizes.... in africa you paid fines with your credit card and moved on. to collect more.

And TT99's are the worse bloody codes when trying to endorse a licence - very confusing stuff as the date of conviction is often different from the date of sentence as well.
All good fun - guess what I do for a job!

Hi all,

Have to admit that i think that the points system that we have is a farce! and those that enforce it, well what can we say about the Good old boys in blue? i have no time for them at all! they think that they are a law un to themselves!!

Recent experience: While exiting the motorway with my wee golf i got stuck behind 2 Vh cavileers who were in turn stuck behind a lorry, lorry pulls in a lane on the dual carrageway and i notice the rear cavy pull up the ass and start to noise up the front one. I then accelerate up and flash lights as to be honest they were going too slow for me (inside lane clear, they were just playing with each other). The rear one slows down and weaves about the road. i pull back and he moves in to let me pass, as i am passing he pulls right accross infront of me causing me to brake to avoid a collision!!! I dropped 2 gears shot up his inside and was passing him before he knew what was happening. as i pulled past with my back end just about to pass his front he started to shove me into the verge!! i got the back end of my car just passed him and yanked the wheel out infront of him and gave him the fright of his life as he obviously did not realise that i had passed him he stamped on the brakes and bricked himself. at that point i just accelerated away to find the other cavy driving in the middle of 2 lanes trying to block me??? pulled past him without any bother at all then slowed up as was coming into a populated zone. look into rear view mirror only to find the first cavy sitting 2 inches from my ass flashing light and telling me to pull in?? ignored him as was now driving past bus stops and people walking at side of road. he pulls up behind me in traffic and is still trying to get me to pull in. now he lifts his arm up and pionts to the wee badge on his sleve. would you believe it, it was a off duty police man with his poncy black t shirt with the badge no on the sleve. promptly gave him the finger and gestured him where to go! he then followed me for a bit but gave up as i was going to hit country roads again and there is no way in hell he would have ever held me.

The idea that they r above the law and can do what they like while if you dare do something thay r down yr throat cant stand double standards!! I say stuff them! if they mess about on the road then why should we all be scared to??

Have met some nice ones but on the whole ...... well goes without saying. they have this arrogance about them that i cant stand. its when they pull you over and spend 20mins trying to pin something on you or catch you out, while you highlight that you spent 15 mins on hold the other night as the neds were trying to set fire to the old property behind you? just doed not make any sence???

bit of a rant i know but just goes to show what the honest hardworking taxpayers of this country have to put up with! Always remember WE PAY THEIR WAGES SO WE ARE THEIR EMPLOYERS AND AS SUCH WE ARE ENTITLED TO HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE!!

Cheers

Brian
