Ford fiesta Hub nuts
bigandy - 3/5/05 at 01:28 PM

Afternoon all.

I was wondering 2 things. Does anyone know what torque the hub nuts on a Ford fiesta should be tightened to? It's a Mk2 Fiesta XR2 by the way.

Secondly, should the hub nuts have large washers behind them?

Cheers
Andy

mk 2 is tapered so just tighten till the play dissapears, there should be washers behind them

F'ing tight I'd say

For comparison, the Haynes manual figures fr a 205 GTi are 250Nm or 192lb/ft, which is higher than your average torque wrench goes.

I love that torque figure described by Effing tight!

Cheers though, I guess I need to go and see how much Mr FOrd wants for some replacement washers...

Do you mean front or rear hubs? as Conrod says for the rear but the fronts are done up pretty tight .

Good point Rusty!

The figures I gave above are fro the front hub nuts on the end of the drive shafts.

Rear ones are as Conrod described.

Ah, perhaps I should have mentioned that they were the front hub nuts!

I think a trip to Halfrauds to inspect the appropriate book of lies, camera phone in hand is required! Ahem...

Cheers!

sod that. find a compliant looking one and ask them what torque they need doing up to? they'll say "ermmmm, lets look in the book of lies". you say "ah touche". then ask them to photocopy the relevant pages in the fax machine

not that i would ever do that or even condone doing that. and you'll have to take the shrinkwrap off.

its not what you know, it's who you know
