all to do with the frontal area, or lack of it. and a bloody long runway!!
still find it hard to understand that the equiv power of a 1.4 16 valve petrol motor could propel anything at 300mph.....

theres probably an equation to work out what drag coefficient you would need.
power = force x speed
so approx 100kw = force x 450kph
units should probably be metres per second.
then link the force to a coefficient.
100000=F x 125
F = 800 newtons at a guess.
so basically a 100kw motor would only have 800 newtons left for acceleration at 450kph, hence to get there the drag force would need to be lower than
800newtons
