Anyone got any idea what this is - or was? (apart from a heap of junk).

One-off special, without a doubt

I'd go along witth John on this one, I did think it was maybe an early Robin Hood as it's got triumph front suspension, but none of those had the straight six or the Midget windscreen.

Looks like a decent job though, apart from the damage.

Cheers

They've had 11 bids for it! Rear suspension looks like that old Spitfire/Herald swing-axle. Ooer - I remember how those performed under cornering conditions!!
Base vehicle could have been GT6 or Vitesse. An early special, of historical interest. How will it cope with SVA?

It's a Locust, ladder chassis, ply/mdf covered with ally skin. Look at boot area. Both corners have strengthening fillets just like the Locust and trumpet front springers.

Not wishing to disagree mr Dude, but the front suspension is different.

compare and contrast -mystery top, Locust bottom

The support for the top wishbone is different.

The suspension in the top of Chris's pics is Triumph from the Herald/spitfire/vitesse/GT6 line of cars, and I think what can be seen of the chassis. ie the spring mounting, is from that source as well
