Useless ebayers
flak monkey - 17/6/05 at 09:41 PM

I won an item over a month ago now (15th May). Sent the cheque the day the item ended. It was for my girlfriends 21st birthday (4th June), needless to say it didnt arrive. Infact the cheque cleared on the 8th of June! Still no sign of my item though. Sent a few emails to the seller(both before and after the cheque cleared), no replies as of yet to any of them. I know they have been active on eBay though, as they have had several auctions finish since.

I have threatened to report the item as unrecieved and leave neg feedback, but i guess that doesnt mean much to someone with nearly 2500 feedback does it?

I have won several items since that auction. All paid by cheque, and all arrived within a couple of weeks (reasonable enough for time for cheque to clear etc).

Im moving house at the end of next week. So they better get it sent out sharpish.

Sorry just needed a rant. Though any advice greatly received.

I'd simply report him and leave v.negative feedback!

Avoneer - 17/6/05 at 10:20 PM

Report to ebay and they can put a pop-up that appears on the sellers screen next time they log on.
I wouldn't leave negative just yet until ebay has a go 1st.

Did you send them via the ebay website as questions about the item?. I've just had similar with a book and gave it 2 weeks as I'd paid by paypal then asked where it was. Seller replied it had been posted so I said I'd give it another week. Still no book so I reminded them and they sent me a replacement 2 days later.

mookaloid - 17/6/05 at 10:58 PM

You should be able to get their phone number to call them up to ask about it.

It's under requesting details of something like that,

Cheers

Failing that after leaving negative feedback I'd be tempted to report him to ebay as a rouge trader.

Hi David ,
I know EXACTLY HOW YOU FEELI bought a set of wheels on Ebay a month ago paid$66aud by EFT and paid $65 aud for postage and still no wheels ! I've contacted the seller and he tells me that he has sent them to the WRONG address and they have come back to him , being a "nice person " I have waited for him the scrape up more postage after he sent me a sniviling email saying he was skint ,he tells me last tuesday that he has re posted them checked the mail on friday (I do not get mail at my house have to go to my local PO) If I do not have the wheels in my hot little hands by early next week I will be firstly complaining to Ebay then leaving the most negative feedback I can think of . But i must say in defense of Ebay that it has largely worked for me and I am delighted that the Lancia Beta HPE that I have been trying to shift for a while has at last found a bidder .......
Shout loud and long to ebay about this trader they make it harder for the Ebay users who are fair and honorable.
Best wishes
Iain

Thanks guys. Yes I have sent the emails through eBay. The sellers actual email address doesnt display for some reason, the only option is to use the contact seller option.

Iain, I havent had any trouble with any of the other things I have bought on eBay, infact I have recieved great service from all but this seller. But at least you are getting replies, not just being ignored....

I will wait and see if i get a reply to this email, if not I will try one last time, then I will report it to eBay.

David

Hi David
I know you ar right I have this guys phone number and the only reason I believe his story is the fact that his emails seem to show he is either barely literate or at least dislexic so I have been prepared to give him the benifit of the doubt ,It is just that by this stage I am geting very tired of waiting to get the wheels ..........
at least I do not have to explain the absense of a birthday gift to my significant other ......
Best wishes
Iain

The link you need is:

http://search.ebay.co.uk/ws/search/AdvSearch?sofindtype=13&ssPageName=h:h:advsearch:Uk

and select "Find Contact Information" from the menus on the left.

I've had to do this a couple of times. The seller will get an email telling them that their details have been sent to you. In both cases things got sorted immediately without the need to call. Odd that.

subk2002 - 19/6/05 at 02:06 PM

Where do thay stay and someone on here could go round to there door and get your stuff
That would shock them

flak monkey - 19/6/05 at 02:32 PM

I do have her address as I sent her a cheque...

flak monkey - 20/6/05 at 02:00 PM

Still not heard back from her, heard nothing. Just filed an 'Item Not Recived' complaint. Grrrr.

If she leaves me neg feedback I shant be too chuffed as I've only got 5 anyway...

ned - 20/6/05 at 04:00 PM

my girlfriend is sort of on the other end of one of these. Someone bid on a pair of shoes she was selling, sent a cheque, my g/f forget/delayed sending them out, the person has received them and now decides she doesn't want them! keeps trying to send them back, we've had 3 attempted deliveries that we've not been in for, so they've been returned to sender each time!

Ned.

flak monkey - 20/6/05 at 04:07 PM

This seller uses the excuse of 'lost in the post' quite a lot, though I paid for insurance, so she better not try that one on me. I'm not her only unsatisfied customer, most have the same problem as me. Takes the money and then claims the item gets lost in the post!

There has not been any attempted deliveries of the item, certainly no notes from the post office, besides someone has always been at home for the past 3 weeks or so!

flak monkey - 20/6/05 at 07:06 PM

Got a response this time. Apparently though i sent the cheque on the 15th/16th it didnt arrive until 10 days later!

Also apparently she posted the item on the 10th of June, still no sign of it here though... Strange how many of her items dissappear in the post...bad luck maybe? Either that or she has terrible handwriting!

David

flak monkey - 24/6/05 at 10:46 AM

Well it arrived today (just as well as I am moving on Sunday!). Date on the postage was the 23rd June, ie yesterday. So she didnt send it on the 10th as she said. Wasnt quite as described in the listing. But hey, Im just happy Im not £12 out of pocket

nicksertis - 24/6/05 at 11:09 AM

Thats unreal, I was going to suggest looking at the postmark, I think you should leave negative feedback. I hate it when people lie like that, they should be honest and do things when they say they're going to. Wait until you have positive feedback from them though

Nick

britishtrident - 24/6/05 at 11:18 AM

I have reported two ebayers in the last couple of days, one for selling a pile of registration documents the other for describing a car in the item description has haveing done oly 36,000 miles when infact studying the small print shows only the engine has done that mileage the rest of hcar has done 81,000 miles.

The registration one has already been pulled, waiting to see what happens on the other one.

niceperson709 - 24/6/05 at 10:48 PM

hi David
well at least you have got your stuff i have had to start the dispute process and the idiot still insists that he posted it on the 14 th and that I should be patient because he sent them from a rural post office I have replied that I will give him untill next tuesday before I take further action , but I will be checking the post mark when (if ) they arrive and unless the date is the 14 th he will be getting negative feedback for sure . even my local post office recon he has been bullshitting
best wishes
Iain

flak monkey - 25/6/05 at 04:31 AM

Hi Iain,
The post office dont consider anything missing until 15 days after it is sent apparently. So I would give it that long then complain.

When I started the dispute process I got a reply in a few hours, unlike emails I sent to her which she never replied to!

There are some people on eBay who spoil it for those who play by the rules. But you only learn through experience I guess!

I hope you get it sorted out OK.

David

niceperson709 - 25/6/05 at 05:15 AM

Hi David
I don't know how long Australia Post think it takes for somthing to be considered lost , but also I don't think that this is the issue either (putting on my detective hat here ) I think that the seller told me that he was posting it on the 14th because I have been upping the presure for him to make good on his part of the bargain after he appaerently stuffed up sending the wheels by posting them to the wrong address in the first place .but I think that as the following thursday is Dole day It is possible that he did not post till then .... Call me cruel but after making me wait for so long I am taking some pleasure in his sniveling responses and I tend to think He is incompetent rather than fraudulent and as you say it is the bad apples that spoil Ebay for the rest of us and I will be happy to get this one out of the barrel
Iain
