Ebay - stay away.
zilspeed - 5/7/05 at 10:18 PM

Never ever ever casually surf ebay. Because you know what'll happen, you start bidding on things.
Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't mind getting this one at all, but I hardly need it...

P.S. Seabass - this is you fault.

Audi 100 2.8 Quattro on ebay

colibriman - 5/7/05 at 10:30 PM

You might not NEED it...But it might be nice to have it anyway...Go for it...

My dad tries to keep me away from ebay because I end up sending him links to things he 'needs;

tadltd - 6/7/05 at 12:02 AM

Zil,

Are you genuinely bidding on this?

I've just realised that I might need this too!

Let's see...

1 x Wife
2 x kids
2 x dogs
1 x trailer + LMP to tow

Currently have:

1 x BMW 5-series (saloon, dogs therefore can't go in the back), no tow-bar
1 x Rover 214 (nuff said)

hmmmm.... I'll stay away for now, I can see the bidding going crazy towards the end...

...but I do think I need it....

Kissy - 6/7/05 at 06:14 AM

ooerr..
I'm looking at this too!
I can't resist, it's on my doorstep.

Yes indeed - zilboy = zilspeed

Don't y'all go dissapointing me and snatching it. Wouldn't be tricky though. I've only bid £500.....

colibriman - 6/7/05 at 07:40 AM

you fool Zilboy.....Now we all know to be bidding £501.......

my Xantia is too slow...maybe I need it too...

just kidding, but I did troll through the quattro's, there seems to be a few out there...nice cars for little money

[Rant] It really hacks me off when folks post on here saying "Look (insert useful item here) on Ebay, Nowt to to with me"
Like, thanks for telling the world about the item I'd spotted and was going to bid on and get for a song until the whole world was told about it!
There should be a law that says you can only mention an Ebay item on here if you're selling it, in which case you've every right to advertise otherwise "keep it shut", you're turning a Locostbuild into a Medcostbuild! [/Rant]

Now that is one nice cruising machine to eat up the miles... I'll just check my bank balance!

You didn't need much convincing - a two minute chat about my Audi.

Cheers

The things you two got up to standing on a cold scottish mountianside watching out for crashes.......

OK chaps, after mailing the bloke three times during the week I actually located the car.
The car was minus battery and therefore could not be driven/started - great. Externally the body is good, minor stone chipping to leading edges. Alloys are ok. Tyres are mainly f**ked. OSF flat, barely legal, NSF illegal, OSR has metal stud in tread. NSR is OK, cheapie but with miles on it. Ironically the spare is an alloy with an excellent Michelin on it (obviously not an ex-F1 item) Tyres are 205/60 x 15. Interior is commensurate with age, but with no battery I couldn't do a lot. Seats are tidy and still hold their shape (Recaros??). I tried to open the glovebox and the handle came off in my hand! Tax disc in window expired 11/04, doesn't mean a more recent one wasn't taken out to cash in though. CD/Radio is face-off Blaupunkt with drop down face for CD access. Engine bay is clean, no sign of shunt damage or leaks. The trim that covers under the steering column from console to door post is missing (not a stolen recovered per chance - the drivers door lock button is missing?)

I'm going to bid on it but only so far! If any locoster from further afield buys it I'll happily help collect it. I wouldn't part with any cash until I'd verified they've put a straight MOT on it, cos at least two tyres are dodgy. Guy I saw, who is not handling this sale (they are traders with a bona fide, if not upmarket, frontage) said the battery would be replaced if it didn't hold a charge (until you left the premises I guess). Hope this helps, been as honest as I can with what there was to see.

Indeed - top marks for effort.

I suffered from a rare moment of clear thinking and stopped all interest.
