Funny Car!!!!

Yesterday afternoon by brother was supposed to be coming over in his manta so I could do a spot of welding for him and a few other little jobs.

By 5 he hadn't shown up, then a black Renault appeared at the bottom of the drive!!!!!!!!

He emerged to announce the he was now the proud (and hopefully very short term!!!) owner of a 1988 E reg Renault 25 2.2!

What a total piece of crap this car is. The good bit is it has loads of tax and MOT and he paid £50 for it, so can't really be far wrong, although I said that was about £45 too much!!!

The funniest bit of all though was when he turned the headlights on and Stephen Hawking emerged from the depths of the dashboard!!!!!!!! neither of us could believe it, but then we found the "oblit" button and the "test" button on the dash. Seems that oblit oblitterates the voice and test tests it!

Press test to be greeted by Stephen Hawking reading such things as "list of functions covered by spoken voice"................"door open",,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,"lighting failure"..................."low fuel"............."critical failure"................"brake failure".........................after a minute or so we had most of the neighbours out listening to the bloody car!!!! It was actually hilarious Worth £50 for the crap voice alone!.

As my brother pointed out, the big flaw was that Stephen H. hadn't spotted the oil peeing out of the engine and the knackered water pump!!!!!!

hasten to add, he still has the Manta, just planning to do some of the longer term jobs on it before he mot's it (change the diff ratio and do a few other jobs)

Worth £50 just for that. Watch out for the ignition pickup wire breaking down though.

Hopefully he won't have it long enough to find out. I think he's hoping to get 3 or 4 weeks out of it so he can get the manta sorted, then I'm having the fuel pump off the renault and the rest will be weighed in, got £50 for the last cavalier I weighed in with no engine etc so should be ok!

did occur to me that the engine and box is probably worth something to somebody looking to build a class 10 grasser on a very low budget!!!
