Chipper/Shredder
Ian Pearson - 19/7/05 at 12:10 PM

Looking for a chipper/shredder. Need to cope with at least 40mm. Any makes to steer clear of?

TIA, Ian.

all - the ones i've seen aren't that good.

I got a cheap one and its not really worth it, i've talked to others and they've said the same. One person did say changing the blade (which cost a fortune compared to a new shredder) made a huge amount of difference.

That will be one serious chipper to do that size. I borrowed a small B&D one once but found it was too slow for serious qty's. It was quite small tho and at a guess would struggle over 15 - 20mm.

Can you hire a big one?

In my shredder, it's really easy to remove the blades and sharpen them on the grinder.

Alko, I think it is...

Always liked the Bosch ones that crush the cuttings between two large cogs. When blocked they simply reverse themselves and try again.

Very good equipment IMHO.

Cheers

I'm not in Dorset, can I borrow it please?
Ian, I think you'll need a proper diesel engined "Wife Disposer" for stuff that thick.
