Ok, this summer I'm getting so bored, in between building my car
, so I have thought about getting a little holiday job. In my village there is
a garage (does MOT work etc) and a motorbike specialist. Whats the likelyhood of one of them taking me on just to clean cars/bikes or similar for a
little bit of money to go towards the car? Are there any laws that say im too young (14)?

Ok, sounds good, just didnt want to ask and be laughed at
IIRC one party of an old school diary contained a list of by laws etc. regarding under 16's and work, which didn't recomend anything like
engineering jobs. (prefered jobs where more like waiting on tables, office gofer etc.)
The only law I know of is that to operate tractors you must to be over 13, not that you care to much about laws like that when your 11

It probably doesn't mean much to you at the moment, but taking summer jobs looks REALLY good when you get to interviews etc., especially if
they're more than the usual McJob. It even scores well when you go for uni interviews.
Basically, it shows that you prefer to get off your arse rather than sit around wasting time and living off other folk.
As an example, my son has never claimed dole money, 'cos every time he couldn't get the job he wanted he went out and got something - bar
work, shop assistant, anything. This attitude swung it big time when he went for an interview for a job he really wanted - basically, he had shown
that he wasn't a layabout.
Lecture over!
Go for it - if nothing else, it's good to know what holding a real job really means.

You may be limited by the hours you can work at 14 years old. The parts shop my wife drives for employs Saturday lads from 14 upwards to pick orders
from the store for delivery.
Thats not really very limiting
