video footage help....
ned - 20/8/05 at 11:58 PM

I have happened upon some unknown video footage this evening, its about 7 mins worth and on a digi8 tape, anyone got any gear nearby for pulling it off onto a computer? I can get hold of a camcorder with a dvout socket if needs be, but don't have any firewire or video editing stuff myself...

Ned.

ps i'm going to borrow a camcorder for a trackday this thursday at goodwood, I've spent the evening making a camera mount for hanging the camera off a cars rollbar, so should be some more footage by the end of the week aswell.

Most video editing software has a 'capture' mode it depends on whether your PC can cope with it too By the sounds of it just get a Audio Video input cable connected to PC/Camera then off you go. If you haven't got relevant connections then you may be able to by a Card with them on for not much money that will enable you to do it!

Funnily enough, I've just bought a firewire card this morinin,

2 port PCI firewire card, a lead and some software for £9.99
From PcWorld, should imagine Dixons etc will also sell the same thing.

Bought a firewire card this lunchtime, they robbed me of £20 on tottenham court road. Its got a cable and a basic copy of Ulead 5 video studio, is this package actually anygood or a typical limited version that they try and get you to upgrade to the full/advanced version?

At least I'll be able to have a play tonight
