Is there some way of checking car details through the RAC website? Isn't this the kind of thing reserved for the DVLA? Got a link? Sounds like fun

Pete

http://www.rac.co.uk/web/carbuying/vehicle_data_search;jsessionid=F54900D6E8027442AA80DF75603930F4

Go to RAC.co.uk, then select car buying from the left hand menu, DVLA is the bottom right option on the page that comes up.

HTH Mike

P.S. Spot the sepelling mistoke on the webside header (vechicle check)

scoobyis2cool - 1/9/05 at 03:35 PM

Could have hours of fun with that! I want to check my own car but I can't actually remember the reg :S

Pete

Mr G - 1/9/05 at 05:27 PM

I like the filename - Evil Portal App. Wonder where it takes you?

Pete

I love the comment on the card in the pic:

"The suspension is rock hard custom bilstein to give incredible handling"

Makes me want one... honest...

RoadkillUK - 1/9/05 at 06:31 PM

I was gonna say Cavalier looking at the roofline, but instead I'll say Calibra

Wingmirrors and sunroof give it away, took me about a millisecond to get it.

I guess the fact that its almost the same colour as my own made it a bit easier to recognise too.

DaveFJ - 2/9/05 at 07:36 AM

The quality of the sheet metal work is outstanding though....

NS Dev - 2/9/05 at 09:53 AM

"suspension is rock hard Bilstein to give incredible handling"

Rocks always make for brilliant handling......................fcucking tosser!

Went to the vauxhall bash at billing Aquadrome a little while back to see various chums from the Opel Manta Owners Club at the annual meet up.

Jeez, could not stop laughing as I had a quick walk around the various "vauxhall performance drivers club" areas, total chavved up shit right left and centre. I found one decent Nova in there, std and very tidy exterior with a nicely done 2 ltr XE 16v in it on throttle bodies etc, but the number of astras with 50kg of isopon on them was disturbing!!!!!!!

the "performance" claims were equally hilarious, bit like the "handling" claim above.

DarrenW - 2/9/05 at 09:58 AM

I have to say that i agree with you NSDev. I find souped up Novas and Corsas to be generally quite nasty and crap. The only exclusion being a kid in our village with a H-reg Nova that looks incerdibly well done and tasteful. It looks better than the day it was bought new - and has a fantastic 2.0 16V which i believe are on throttle bodies as well. The exhaust note is very nice too - not overly noisy just well tuned and purposeful. Downside is that he drove it into the back of my then BMW a couple of years back. Give him his due though it was fully and correctly insured, i had no grief at all and he repaired his car himself to a very high standard - still driving around in it now.

It narks me at the amount of times you hear the kids say they have adjustable suspension that is wound up solid - they just dont seem to grasp the fundamentals of car design / good performance mods. I wish i had half of their spare cash tho'..............
