Video Camera Mount
Andy North - 8/9/05 at 02:50 PM

Can anyone point me in the direction of something to mount a video camera to my roll bar?

I did search, but could not find it.

These guys seem to be "the daddy" when it comes to camcorder mounts: -

Suction mounts, gripping mounts etc.

Hmm think I'd want something a little more substantial than that for hooning around a track. Not bad for 7 squids though.

We have some kit from these guys, nice chap too - not cheap but will mount to any position and with the ball attachement, which we have, any angle too! Brilliant and solid piece of kit. Will grip upto 2" tube!

This
with this
are available HERE not cheap but very good!

In fact I have to place his link onto our website or I'll be getting into trouble!

For a bullet cam it's perfect. A lad on PH used it at VMax. 150 mph with a bulletcam and it was solid.

Try asking Hicost, that sort of thing was his domain I thought

Looked Neds thread. Expensive when you trash a digital camera! There never was an answer there about vibration.

I suppose one of the kids could do it

Best not put them on the bonnet though

make sure it is vibration dampened, i killed my dads camcorder on a trackday at goodwood with a solidly mounted one to a rollbar.

Ned - when you say Camcorder, do/did you mean the new DVD cam's or the tape one's. I have got a DVD one and wouldn't think about putting that on anything which could sustain vibration. For car recording we use an old DV Tape one - the older one's seem to have more substance to them. Just a thought...

it was a mini-dv based panasonic machine hellfire. from the way the signal broke up its almost certainly nakered the record/playback heads. the chump in jessops said it might have been the ccd, but then he couldn't tell me which models had mic or analogue inputs so i didnt' belive a word he said...

"Chump" - not heard that word for "yonks"
