We used the F250 to tow the 28 foot ski boat to Mozambique a good few years back on unsurfaced roads for several hundred miles.
Loaded with fuel and food fishing gear tents ect for six weeks holidays. Bullet proof and no problems at all. Nice high chassis/axle combo that cleared the middle man on the dirt roads.

They are one of the best trucks Dad had the pleasure of having. The Ford ranchero and the Cortina 3 liter pickup never quite filled its boots.
I could imagine that fuel bill now.......

My Grandfather had a couple of the F350 Duallys. pulled a 45' 5th wheel trailer like it wasn't even attached.

The engine is good for 400,000 miles pretty easy.

Awsome engine the 7.5 turbo diesel. Manufatured by International/ Navistar for Ford. Not sure about the heavy truck market over there but we often get parts from Navistar heavy truck dealers. I'm a certified Ford diesel technician and recomeded one to my father inlaw to tow his 45 ft fifth wheel motor home.
Towing capacity is dependent on the rear axle, dual vs singe rear wheels and 2wd vs 4wd.
The only weak points we see are small oil leaks at the base of the turbo, glow plugs, the glow plug relay and the wiring to the injectors and glow plugs through and under the rocker cover gasket.
Just keep the fuel and oil clean and service when recomended and you should get a million miles out of them

Picked up a rear-engine dragster in a 26 foot enclosed trailor with one last year. Left from around Indianapolis, Indiana and ran 1600 miles straight to New Jersey and back. No problems at all and it actually got decent gas mileage. I think it was 15mpg empty and 12 with the trailer. It was a 4wd dually. Hope that helps.
