Hi, I recently bought a new house from Barratts (never again but anyway) they were supposed to send an emergency plumber round friday afternoon to fix
the leaking toilet Bu, he never came so I fixed it myself (even though I have a 2year warranty). i rang head office to ask where my plumber was and
was greeted with a load od apologies.I told them I had called an emergency plumber myself and would forward the invoice.
the question is ....what is a realistc price for me to make an invoive for?
I was thinking £75 turnout and £25 labour. Is this about right ?
Cheers.
What can you get for your car for £100?

My kickboxing instructor is a plumber. Training tomorrow so can ask him then if you can wait.
Cheers,

i used to work for a maintenance company that did all kinds of breakdown (I was sent to electrical and plumbing jobs) and the hourly rate varied
depending on how busy they were..
there was no initial callout charge and was from 45 quid an hour upwards to 69 per half hour ! (this was 2 years ago)
So don't be shy...your hourly rate is too low I would say
Turnout £75
Labour £35
All new houses are terribly built... not just Barratt!
I work for one of the countries biggest construction companies, and we are building a shell for a block of flats for one of the biggers house
builders.
recently I was in a meeting with their construction director, talking about which subcontractors we were planning to use. he than confided that they
could not afford to employ the good contractors all they could afford was the crap. he also said that he would hate to take one of their houses apart
because they are so poorly built. these people make 20% to 30% profit on every house.
I was shocked at this candid confession, and it was one of those Ratner moments. needless to say he left the company soon after
that made me all the more determined not to by a new house...
as for the charge i would have said £60 to £80 an hour for an emergency plumber.
ditch
Phone a local plumber and ask what they would charge, then add 15% for the aggravation.
Cheers

£45 per hour + vat is a minimum hourly rate
Ive known emergency plumbers to charge in excess of 70 quid an hour before plus the call out fee.
Brand new homes are built so poorly. Mine is about 15 years old and that aint much better.
