1st one looks a bit better but its annoying to navigate (IMO) - 2nd works better.

Agreed - but both of them are too wide for my screen so I have to scroll across to see the right hand side, the second one even if I close my bookmarks side bar

Still envious though as I couldn't write a website to save my life

I like the 2nd personally but Tripod spoils it by shoving their ad over the top

Yup agree with that, so I prefer the second one, although its a tough call! Can't say anything about the pop-up ads, as my ad-blocker has grabbed them all!
