I think (I'm pretty sure really) I got zapped today on the A303 by a mobil speed trap.
Anyone know how long it takes for the tickets to come through?

Depends on the office staff.
Usually within 1 month, but can be anything up to 6 months. Anything after 6 months and they can't prosecute you.
How much balls do you have for telling little fibblies and I'll see if I can help...
Pat...
about 2 weeks IIRC.
There arent many ways around this one after you have been flashed. In the past 'my friend' has sent off the log book to avoid being the
registered keeper - once even after the notice had arrived, but backdated!
Not that useful with a front facing camera.
The same 'friend' also moved house, his old neighbour says that a warrant notice arrived recently, almost a year after the offense!
They'll never find him
Good luck - do you have any other points? If not, its not the end of the world.
In future, consider removing your front plate
ooh naughty pat!

My missus thought she'd been done recently, so she phoned the Wiltshire Police.
They said they had to get somebody within 2 weeks or they have to let them go.
In her experience, the filthy money grabbing b@stards were quite nice and honest on the phone.
They MUST send you a NIP (Notice of Intended Prosecution) with 14 days.
Unless they can prove they couldnt trace you. ie you moved and had not updated DVLA of your new address.
After 14 days you should be OK. (Challenge it if it arrives after 14 days). Its a procedural thing.
They have to abide by the law as well.
All this is on various websites
http://www.ukspeedcameras.co.uk/
http://www.speedcam.co.uk/
to mention a couple.
Just Google Speed Camera - and search UK only.
You have the technology at your finger tips.. use it!

I done a few months driving hgvs cash in the bin lark, got caught by a camera the owner got the pics through i took all my tachos (any proof i was
driving) and got another job sharpish, got away with that one
Cheers guys!
I'll have to wait and see what happens.
My lisence is clean, but I was probably just over the ton mark - is a ban likely?

more than 30 mph over the limit tends to get a ban unless you attend court and grovel.
I would certainly attend in your best suit if you do get a NIP. Is it your car or a company car? If a co car, they have to get the NIP to the reg
owner, not you. could be yonks before you see it.
bear in mind that altho laser vans have a range of 1km, they can only get you over a specific zone - the laser willl be set and the camera will be
focused at a small part of the road. If you brake like fcuk before you pass that point you will be ok. Ive had 4 narrow escapes that way in the last
18 months

What car were you driving when you got zapped? Most cars I have driven the speedo usually reads high. My A6 shows 85 on the clock but the road angel
which is controlled by sat nav shows 80. At around a ton the difference can be 10% so depending how much over the ton you might get away with it.
Expect 3 points and sixty english pounds as your pennance

Having just got rid of 3 points and half way through the time period for the other points.. I've been driving very carefully !!! Still have to
tell insurance company for 5 years though

2 years after they dont count and a year after they are removed from my licence

My road angel is usually about 4 miles lower than my car, after 80 it's more like 6, and after 90 its more like 9-10. So fingers crossed
you'll be under the limit for banning
have a look at www.pepipoo.com,they cover that sort of stuff, also pistonheads is full of info from plod that post on there
I'm guessing you were in the leon nick? whereabouts was this mobile camera? my girlfriend travels down that way quite regularly (going that way
this weekend i think).
i was also of the impression it was 2 weeks. I went through a front facing camera at about 65 in a 50 and haven't had anything through .. yet.
fingers crossed. they changed it from a conventional rear camera since i'd last been down that road grr.
best of luck,
Ned.
The A303 can be quite hazardous speed camera wise. I try to stick to the speed limit, as those camera vans pop up all over the place.
Yes I was in the Leon and yes it's a Co. car, so work will get the ticket before I see it which is an arse.
The camera was a the end of a down hill stretch of dual carriageway before Stone Henge (travelling East) looking at the map I think it was by Mere.
What's the likelehood of getting any info from Wiltchire police over the phone?
Nick
Do speed cameras flash even when they have run out of film? I have been flashed a few times but never received anything.
My mum got done on the A303, i think it's a very tough road for speeders!
I would be lost without my license so have learnt to slow down when faced with camera signs....I drive with the sun visor down as somebody i know got zapped and with visor down it was impossible to identify who the driver was......they just blagged their way out of it

Have a look on www.honestjohn.com
Apparently you should deny everything. They have to prove it was you driving no matter what they tell you! You do not have to prove you
weren't.
Cheers
Jon
cheers again guys.
By the way this was a mobile speed trap in a lay-by, forward facing.
I phoned Wiltshire plod today and they said they will be able to tell me bext week if I was picked up on it.
Not looking forward to explaining this one to my boss
isnt ringing up the police and asking if you were nicked for speeding a bit incriminating?

Not unless they've traced your phone number or you've given them all your details.
Does anyone know if the speed gun works when driving away from it, rather that towards it.
Spotted one as i passed a slower car on a dual carriageway near me. Would have wept on going up and up until i was gone around a bend.
Nick - U2U sent.
