Even trackdays can bite back :(
ChrisGamlin - 13/10/05 at 06:50 PM

This video (12Mb) shows how easily it can all go wrong, even on the best circuits with the best organised days. This happened Wednesday on a BaT day, someone spilled a load of coolant at the top of Eau Rouge (Spa) and two people, one a well known regular suffered the consequences despite being on a cool down lap!

Luckily no serious injuries apart from a couple of broken ribs (from when he was knocked over whilst getting out!)

Brings it home that it doesnt always happen to someone else, Ive been to Spa twice before with BaT so could easily have been me instead.

I'll be asking for a full cage for Christmas me thinks!!

not working for me Chris :-(

ChrisGamlin - 13/10/05 at 07:07 PM

Hmm, the link works here, what error do you get?

Its been posted on a couple of forums so might just be maxing out the bandwidth I guess.

no message.
windows media player starts up, then the car can be heard but no picture and stops every 3 seconds.

BKLOCO - 13/10/05 at 07:12 PM

I get the same.
I'm at work though and thought that maybe the codec was missing!

CairB - 13/10/05 at 07:12 PM

Shame, I hope that driver and car mend.

He's got some other good videos of his Duratec on the site.

Hellfire - 13/10/05 at 07:15 PM

At least no serious injuries. Could have been far worse.

ChrisGamlin - 13/10/05 at 07:18 PM

Hi Colin

Sounds like a codec issue in your media player.

According to my Windows Media player (v9.0), its playing on the standard Media Player 9 video codec for wmv files, so you might need to update your player perhaps?

ChrisGamlin - 13/10/05 at 07:21 PM

Yep could have been a LOT worse, for starters had he been on a hot lap he would have been doing 20-30mph more, had he stopped 2-3m shorter, the Prelude would have hit him hard

If you can't download the video, here's some pics of the car afterwards

colibriman - 13/10/05 at 07:21 PM

I'll try it on the laptop...

thanks Chris

That is really bad. I hope he is OK. I've spent hours watching his videos. A real inspiration.

Hope he gets better soon and gets the car repaired / replaced.

Mike

I dont know him personally, but he's a regular on a forum I frequent and he seems fine and in reasonably good spirits, trying not to laugh cos it hurts the ribs!

donut - 13/10/05 at 07:40 PM

oooooh bugger! Could have been worse though.

Metal Hippy - 13/10/05 at 07:45 PM

A real poo and regards to whoever that guy is..

..but I point out that again a Seven is involved in a fairly substantial wallop and comes away comparatively unscathed..

I can think of a few cars that wouldn't fare anywhere near so well.

colibriman - 13/10/05 at 07:51 PM

working fine on laptop, thanks Chris.

oh dear...glad he's ok..

andylancaster3000 - 13/10/05 at 08:08 PM

Has anyone got the link to his site..?

Cheers,
Andy

Edit: seen it on intro screen now...

i don't know wy but looks like on the curbs there is tracion and on the inner side not..

and then all the cars turn...

bloody hell the other silver car.... but offcourse it came much faster...

also it could be more worse for the other one..though..what if you stand near the wheel and it hits you on your legs..

you will brake them!

tks

alister667 - 14/10/05 at 09:32 AM

Good grief, that brought back all sorts of unpleasant memories!

When you do a track, you do take a chance....
