I'm working tonight from home. Hear what sounds like some bloke trying to wheel spin his diesel out of the junction opposite my house...Then silence and starts all over again. Stick my nose out of the window to see some bloke trying to get tow a car that does not want to be towed. Then him and another bloke trying to get it off the back of the tow truck. Me thinks this is strange, perhaps they have recovered it only for the tranny to lock up..But then it does look like a car belonging to a girl a few doors down from me ("54 reg Astra auto). After 2-3 mins of pushing and shoving it they drive off down the road, I go out to find it is her car! She parks it off the main road as she is frightened of getting the mirror knocked off only to have it nicked!

Looks as if they couldn't get it out of "Park" without a key hence from wheels locked up.

So lock'm up good and tight, and where was that thread on a locking brake line valve....

Many, many years ago, I'd returned home from an evening in London and was standing near my car (20 yds) eating a kebab, watching this bloke trying to start a MK2 Cortina. Bit strange as there was a girl on t'other side of road quite obviously acting as look out. He'd get it started and stall it. This went on for 5 - 10 mins.

Eventually about 10 large chaps came out of the curry shop and asked him what he was up to. He said he was collecting it for a friend.

They asked him where his car was and he pointed to my Rover SD1.

So I got in and drove off.

Hopefully he got the kicking he deserved.
