Any plumbers in here?!
Turned on t'other day, went bang.
Fuse on the plug is fine, I take it there are fuses inside the machine that cud have gone? It's a Servis M6011 by the way.
Cheers,
Oli
The favourite thing to go in washing machines are the brushes. And they can go with a bang when they wear right out. Put loads of sets in. You need to
take the top off the machine and take a look. They are easy enough to get to, and cheap enough.
It could of course be something else, but its a good place to start.

does everything light up as normal and the drum just not spin or is there no signs of life
Absolutely no sign of life, light doesn't come on or anything!
David, numpty question but what are the brushes?
Cheers,
Oli
Sorry, the brushes in the motor. Little carbon things with a wire in, usually in a little plastic holder on the opposite end of the motor to the
shaft.
Though from your last post that nothing works at all, it could be considerably more serious than that simple fix.
If the controller has died, you may as well get a new machine as they cost a fortune to replace! (or at least they used to)

Carbon brushes in the motor. If it's not doing anything at all it doesn't sound like them. Time to go shopping or get a repair man in, sorry.
Sounds like the controller has gone if nowt happens.
Have a look inside could be something simple also.
Not meaning to be funny. Is there power at the socket? I know someone that had a repair man out for a similar thing and it was a wire gone in the
wall.

Try this site. Its a white goods forum. Give the symptoms, and you'll get a diagnosis from an expert. I've used it for my cooker when it er
went bang !
www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/
I've also used another site that has a forum and sells the parts but I can't find/remember it. I'll keep looking
I'm a dumb arse, this site does both !

Ooooh SERVIS
Back panel off , see if the drum case has rotated taking the wires with it and pulling them against the belts/pulleys.
As Reman says or could be the on/off switch that had a habit of frying IIRC.
just realised its one of the newer models most likely the controller that has gone.

Managed to get thru to Servis service section (that was a mouthful!), and the guy said take off the top and follow the power lead into the machine and
apparently there's a fuse in there that cudda blown. Not got my socket set with me tho coz theres 2 6mm hex heads holdin it on - bugger!
I'll still try that ukwhitegoods site thanks.
Cheers,
Oli
We gave our Service washer/dryer the deep 6 it was trouble from the day it came out of warranty, After two controller boards were fitted we discovered the controller board has fancy electronics that detect excess out of balance wouldn't let it start unless the drive belt was way over tightened --- much to the detriment of the bearings. It just managed to last 3 1/2 years -- replaced it with a Hoover 5 1/2 years ago that has only needed condensor cleaned out twice due to fluff build up.
