ZDNet downloads has Alibre free program. I don't know what it does but I've seen people ask for this kind of thing on here. It might be worth a look.

You can also try Blender - it takes a bit of getting used to but you can do amazing things with it. Great for 3D design and animation, and also has useful stuff like being able to export a 3d view to a jpeg or gif image (useful for showing results on a web page).

It is open source, so completely free!
Well worth a look at www.blender.org

Good spot!

You need to register to download it though -

Try HERE for one that does'nt require site registration.

EDIT: I notice its got SP2 on the end, its not just a service pack for the original version is it?

Cheers

G

Alibre has just released an update for the original but I'm not sure if that link is the full install or not.

I signed up for the recent promo they did so I got it for free in the first place. To be honest they don't bombard me with marketing rubbish so there's no problem with registering.

I prefer Pro/Desktop though although the Alibre effort functions in a very simliar way. However, you get used to one and anything different reduces productivity.

I'm using Blender to roughly check on size fit for things like rear axle, engines, etc. Quite useful for that but definitly not the accuracy of a proper CAD program.

Blender is more for stuff like this:

That'd be Fred Flintsone's Austin Devon
