I can get my hands on an MG TF 160 2003. Should I or should I not ?

I've had 2 MGFs. They tend to either be very very good or lemons so check it out well.
Personally, I much prefer the F ton the TF. The Euro safety guys got hold of the TF suspension and made it understeer rather than oversteer so
it's no fun.
That said, the F could really bite if you didn't respect it. Ended up ointing the wrong way a couple of times just pulling out of a junction in
the wet!
Thanks Andy
I've got the Locost for the fun.
The missus won't know about the understeer
Do it but do the checks very carefully first --- ie head gasket, also look for unusual tyre wear, also check the clutch has a good bite.
For the head gasket check leave it idling for 30 minutes, also check the heater works, look for oil in the water.
Also keep in mind that new/delivery mileage entry MGTF can be had for less than 12k.
But the entry level 1.4 model was best imho.
I've heard that the head gasket can be suspect.
Let's see 12k UK to ZAR is about 144 HMMM maybe 159 is a bit high
A guy who I work with has a 1.8 freelander which has just cost him £2.5K to have a recon works unit installed after head gasket failure. 60 odd thousand miles only. Ouch.
Check the radiator pipe-work - chap at work paid many hundreds of £s to get all his rubber pipes replaced after one split. Turned out they were all in
bad shape.
It's a major job as the pipes go everywhere!

try this site
http://www.reliabilityindex.co.uk/search_results.html?apc=3128339010848601
and compare it against other cars - seems to come out EVEN WORSE than the laguna - and warrantydirect wont even touch that!
pay particular note to the amount of engine claims
600+ quid repair compares against most cars 200 quid! (look at saxo in comparison)
