builiding my Mk at the mo no intentions of it going anywhere but need a good daily car

Im well into my Rarer smart cars like a 300zx Supra or Skyline

thing is although the money isnt really a problem I cant be wanting to give my £3000 to insure the above cars like I did with my Z twin turbo..

even a year later at 22 it didnt make any change to the insurance about 200 quid less for renewal


I really like Keith Kirks Dodge viper replica the new gt2 coupe ( and the whole kit is only about 8k)it has really come on from only a few years ago when I thought all these super car replicas had the worst body fitments ever and really high suspension!

any thoughts or pics anyone on any other kits

dont really want to go past the 15k mark because I would buy a TVR cerbera for this money

very sure! plenty of the people on here go to all the shows throughout the year and may have seen a kit I havent come across or forgot about

afterall Im talking kit car not the real thing

The GTM Libra can come with a hard top and is probably close to being practical. It's said to handle as well as and elise and can have any K series engine including the V6s. also the T series 2.0 turbo and the civic type R.

The styling is a bit to taste, but then what isn't.

Must agree - personally I think they are a lovely vehicle.

I like the GTM to, you can pick up finished ones for a little over £10K

then there is the Mini Marcos, not in the same league as a skyline and as ugly as Sin but fun

if you are into body conversions, there is the Veranti a rebody of the Mk2 MR2 a bit boxterish or the Italia a rebody of the MX5 that looks 1960's ish ferrari. these have plenty of tuning potantial, practical and proberbly a lot cheaper on insurance even with turbo chargers or superchargers fitted.

extreme do a 360 conversion built onto a pug 406 coop. all the panels look bang on. 6k for the panels. could maybe do the full thing fo 12k
Also do the 355 mr2 conversion,tidy but getting common.
360 is new so nobody will expect it to be a replica.

I almost ready to start my covin. Got some 964 bumpers and clear lights.
Think i'll keep that as my run around.

Rear suspension on Libras is not the most long lived IIRC (hopefully ferg will correct me on this). Certainly, it has been modified because the multifarious joints wearing out prematurely. My old GTM K3 was a daily car and had over 100K on the clock when I sold it.

The Libra's rear suspension was redesigned not long ago by MG Rover's X power division. If you bought the newer components, you'd probably be OK.

The Mk1 rear suspension is OK, but rattles a bit in time. The ball joints are cheap to replace though.
Point of order...I don't think you would fit the T-Series in and ALL Libras are hard topped.

The extreme bodied 406 is not bad at all to look at. Only the rear part of the hood is off.

Well........
Pedantic perhaps, but the Spyder front clamshell is different to the Libra. The light layout is completely different and the Libra front has a seperate moulding for the air intake.
The doors are different.
The rear clamshell is completely different
The central monococque is very different.
I think the engine frame is the same, although you can't have a V6 in a Spyder and the suspension is basically the same.
