I am doing some reading up on Emmisions standads and have found something that says that one reason for stopping NO2 is that it creates ozone. I thought we had a hole in the ozone layer, would this osone not be usefull?

Ozone at ground level is deadly/poisonous. A few miles up its very helpful...

Using commercial jets to release Ozone when at high altitude has actually been proposed for awhile.

I strongly suspect commerical interests will have scuppered such sensible ideas!

Oxides of Nitrogen are one of the primary causes of photochemical smog (and low level ozone) , and also contribute to acid rain. Not very nice stuff really

Can't remember where I heard it suggested that all the fridges and stuff with Ozone in them should be chucked out of the back of a plane to plug the hole.

I thought it a good idea
