Hi John
Funny you should mention it but I've just finished one for a Blackbird engined MK, although it is in black polyprop. Why clear anyway?

so you can see those sexy snorters (ram pipes) so it could be done ? i know your a busy chappy and i have got an air box i made myself so i'm not desperate, (car can run) but if it is possible i am more than willing to cross your palm with silver, in return for one nice clear airbox.

Hi Chris,

I like the idea of fitting one of your natty plastic tanks when I finally get round to building but check this link out....

http://www.soton.ac.uk/~wolfson/electronews/homecar.htm

Not the bit about the dust mites but the feature at the end of the page. I'd be worried that I might cause a bit of a drama on a forecourt, especially with my nylon fishnets and plastic high heels generating a discharge.

Cheers,

Sparky

Chris

What else can you make out of plastic? Just tanks (ie box shapes)? Is it a vac form job or something more specialised? What sort of prices for a one-off job?

Chris

Hi Chris
Mostly anything you would make from metal as long as it can be formed from flat sheets, pipes or machined from bar or block stock.
eg:
Boot covers
boot liners
petrol tanks
ram pipes
windscreen stays
wheel centres
air boxes
steering column covers
numerous brackets
interior trim panels
dashboards
gearstick gates
etc.. etc...
need I go on (I know, I know I normally do)

What about vac forming a bumper? Would quite thick plastic and will be quite wide!

Chris

locodude - 16/4/02 at 06:10 PM

Sorry Chris
No vac forming.

How about some wheel centres?

one can dream.

locodude - 16/4/02 at 10:16 PM

Hi Jon
It's an industrial chromers that we do some work for. The only problem is the parts have to be shall we say not very wide. Baz took a roll bar with stays to the rear and he could'nt do it. 3 sets of wishbones, 2 rear hubs (MK), various bits and bobs £40.

the manifold is not as wide as the roll cage you mention'ed would probably be, cam cover of engine is 3mm away from top rail and exhaust follows the chassis line very tight so would probably go in is tank, got to be worth a go, can you e~mail me off list details of how i may get the manifold to him, or ring me on 07979 872568....or 01246 823831 and i will call you straight back so i pay for the call......thanks Jon.
