Was the Renault F1 team formally known as Benetton F1???? I have been to the Benneton F1 factory in Oxfordshire before and that pic in the auction rang a bell.
If it is that very same one then the tour is awesome. We drove into the place and couldnt see the factory as its down in an old gravel pit. The reception alone was gobsmacking - full car on display with loads of trophies and memorabilia around it. Factory itself cleaner than a top class restaurant - withoubt doubt you could eat you dinner off the floor. Full size wind tunnel. Cad room out of this world. Machining centres - no words can describe. Even the warehouse underneath was crammed with F1 cars that were once stars of the track - now rarely see light. Parts on display around the place - i didnt realise just how light a suspension arm was!! A truly breathtaking experience. Even at £1,000 for charity the lucky winner will be amazed.

I went to the first Minardi auction in 2004 and also across to Italy for Ferraris auction last easter and it was amazing to see the ammount of dross they store and also some of the really cool stuff.

One of my highly rated items at Minardi was a V12 engine block which had been run and blown a piston giving holes in one cylinder, and the whole thing was supplied with 12 bottles of red wine so that once you had drunk the wine you could put a sheet of glass or perspex over it and have it as a coffee table.

Unfortunately they were out of my price range so I had to bid on a set of wheels & a seperate set of tyres to tun into coffee tables instead.
