LINKY

Yours four $4680 (but I don't know if that's for all the bits you'll need)

If you imported one of these - how long before it got banned!

Very cool.

that looks like fun!

The scope for digging a wingtip into the water and cartwheeling must be very high - and the pilot's in his shorts, no lifejacket or helmet, and sitting on a bench with no seatbelts!

Ah dear, such scope for a huge crash............... carnage

Wonder what sort of licence you'd need in the UK for that?

Unfortunately in our beloved UK, the little grey men say that if your vehicle leaves contact with the surface it is travelling over, be it land or water, even by a foot, you are required to have a pilot's licence.

This is to prevent you having too much fun, which as you all know would be bad for our health.

Pilot's license by the look of it . I can't think of many places you could use it unless you live by a large lake, river or airfield type area.

that men't one of my old cars should be reclassified as a plane as it spent lots of time higher than a foot after jumping a hump back bridge at 70

I bought a set of plans for one of these from universal hovercraft - I used to be into that scene a few years ago. If you can build a locost, it would be no problem to build on of these. 75 - 80mph, pull a skier, works with or without wings.....
Maybe some day..........

cossey - 17/2/06 at 05:45 PM

put a long dagger board on it so it doesnt leave the water and call it a hydrafoil

Its an ekranoplan invented by the reds a few years back. requires a flat surface to run on and it works on ground effects. See http://www.airbornegrafix.com/HistoricAircraft/Ekranoplans/ekrano1.htm

After the cold war the persons doing this project moved to the states and started a company building them........
