how do tvr's pass the SVA ??
zxrlocost - 19/2/06 at 11:51 AM

do they stick a sierra wheel on the T350 before the sva as most tvr's come with mountney type wheels?

is it just a case of I scratch your back you scratch mine

TVR ?
SVA ?
WHY ?

Even mounteny type wheels can pass SVA if they are radiused correctly. It isn't only the sierra wheel that is acceptable.

I guess that TVRs have small volume type aproval rather than SVA.

My car passed with a mountney wheel on it.

So did mine, but with the Mountney cover.

TVR are type approved - not SVA'd.

so shall Ieave my OMP on for the SVA

Viper - 19/2/06 at 07:56 PM

the wheel i am using is out of a Griff 500 it's a personel,
as long as the omp meets the radius rules you shouldn't have any problems with the sva

Simon - 19/2/06 at 08:51 PM

Ah yes, but if you get an arse like my first examiner, then he'll say s/wheel is not compatible with the rest of column, as well as radius issues.

Retest chap was superb. He said "I know that ain't staying on" and strangely enough, but the time he'd been into office to write out MAC, I had swopped wheels over. Not a blink from him.

Its not just TVR's that make you wonder. A lot of cars have bits that would worry a SVA tester. My mate repairs old LandRovers - new chassis etc. Some are not so old. Ive never seen one yet that has the brake lines and wiring looms clipped every 300mm. Dubious door brackets, wheels on top of bonnets or hung off back door etc etc etc.
