I had the dog at the vets this morning he cut the pad on his front paw. £150 for 3 staples, sedation and a bandage

You should report the Vet for being pished. He shouldn't be allowed to attend to animals in that state.

Pet insurance is only around £5 a month and saves you being sued if it runs off and causes an accident.
If the wife's dog cost me on that score it could be £'000's and I would be really pissed so I make sure she insures it.
The fact it covers minor bills is a bonus.
We just had our cat down to the vet's a couple of days ago and it cost £40 for two separate examinations, two injections and a course of
antibiotics. I thought that was pretty fair. Some vet's do charge a fortune though so it pays to shop around if you can.

Got to agree pet insurance is the way to go ive got 2 pedigree rotties my youngest one just had peration on both front legs £3500 Thank F*** i was

We have pet insurance thank god. When we moved into our new house 5 years ago the dog started getting a rash around his belly and between his rear legs weeks of tests showed he was allegic to dust mites he had to be given an injection every 3 months, cost thousands £. We only had to pay for the injections £17 every 3 months, but he still got the rash. Last year we stopped getting the injections and the rash stopped need i say more. The cream he got for the rash was savlon the vet charged £12 a tube, Boots sell it for a couple of £.
You can't beat private medicine for nice big bills...
My old doberman cost me a fortune in vets bills , he was on water tablets that cost the earth until I was recommended to try him on pearl barley , cost peanuts and he like eating it when boiled in Oxo , curry powder or chilli . He sometimes got a rash from an allergy, again vets treatment was extotionant , Tea tree oil worked much better.
My Retriever keeps getting rashes. I used to go to vets - £20 each time for injection. I know buy 'Liverine Unction' cream from Pet shop.
Costs less than £2, clean the rash with salt water, dry it off, apply cream over a few days and it goes away. Ive no idea what it is but works a
treat.
I also use tea tree for some things - great stuff.
Bad news is the She has a lump on her back now. Will cost £250 to have it removed, but will be speyed and teeth polished at same time.
Other dog drank antifreeze just after xmas. Cost us about £150 to have him put down and cremated.
At the end o fthe day if you want to enjoy pets then you need a few quid to look after them on a rainy day.
Ralphie-roo [img][/img] is worth every penny in my book! Yep, he costs us a few quid on occasion but i wouldn't be without him! 
was that to have him stuffed... cos it looks like he's on a plinth or is that just coincidental.

It causes paralysis, reversible in small doses but it can be permanent
