Whilst searching for info on press studs !

I came across a website following the build of a helicopter, and to my surprise it was CBS !

Sure we've all bought stuff from them during our builds. Just thought it was quite interesting to see what they get up to in their spare time ! LOL ! Obviously doing quite well seeing as they own a portion of Kent...

Live nearby so go over there to collect the bits I need and have watched the helicopter progress.

Superb build and they finished it quicker than learning to fly the thing

Thats completely insane! I'm guessing its going to be on the lines of the Robinson R22, with a 4 stroke engine in the back.

Either way, anyone doing that is seriously dicing with death. Just a few thoughts - tracking, vibration testing, stress testing. Autoratating in a piston engine helicopter doesnt sound like fun.

I've done it - no drama. I believe there's no difference to a turbine engined helicopter.

When a plane's engine fails it can pretty much glide to safety.

What happens to a helicopter, surely there are some sort of failsafes?

Would be a great project, have also seen kit build aeroplanes on the internet, for about £40,000 if i remember correctly.

I love this one.. relatively affordable (compared to other flying thingies) and you can take off and land ANYWHERE (unlike ultralights), which is priceless I think.

Now someone please design a "lowcost" version made out of junk, write a book, and start a revolution

My understanding is the SVA equivalent for aircraft is rather more challenging that that for cars.

From their faq:
